    Default Can Do!

The Tech2 programming sets things like engine, airbags and wheels/tyres (odometer/speedometer).

The cluster should still work, though the Tacho might be well out, the speedo might be a little out and you may have warnings such as airbags.

If the cluster is new, then the Tech2 would need to be done before the odometer reads 100 km, or the odometer can only be reset by limited instrument specialists at significant cost.

I recommend the advice from PaulSV6.

Installed my HSV level 3 cluster today on the VY ute.

cluster is out of a clubsport variation and brand new.

I have also installed the HSV steering wheel and hsv horn pad.

Airbag warning came straight up. but it works.

speedo is pretty accurate. REVS are around 400-500rpm out at idle. Fuel gauge reads full even though it is only at around 1/2 tank. and I have a 55L tank gauges say I have a 70L tank. all clubsport standard.

when you plant it it says "change up" as the tacho goes up to 7000rpm. which the motor I assure you is not doing, maybe 5000rpm max.

middle lcd screen says tech 2 to program.

took it to Holden today and they had it for 10mins before putting it in the to hard basket.

they wouldn't even set the odometer the bastards.

it's booked into HSV on Monday. They said bring it in with the standard dash they'll download the info off that, then I can change dashes over and they'll calibrate the new one to suit my car from that info.

luckily you can exchange dash clusters without removing the steering wheel.

to do so unbolt the dash bezle lift out from the top, unscrew the dash lift out and slide to the left of the steering wheel after removing the wiring loom.

oh and one feature I hope they can leave enabled is the traction off warning. my ute does not have traction control. and that makes things fun, but having the warning there just keeps you calmer.

just to confirm. HSV did the dash calibration this morning.

took 2 hours??? cost $126.50. Everything is perfect now, trac off warning still there, (they couldn't get rid of it, and I'm glad)

they got rid of the SRS warning which was stored in the BCM. and calibrated everything they way it should be.

P.S Do not drive over 100K's on the new dash. before having it calibrated or they won't be able to do it.

you must leave the old dash in for them to download the info first. leave the new dash in the car on the passenger seat when you take it there.

I removed the bezle cover for the dash and took out 3 of 4 screws which secured the dash to save them time.
