Well, after yesterday's incident i'm thinking about getting a sump guard, especially since i'll be getting a brand new sump.
Well anyways, wondering if anyone has pics of their sump guards to share? And can you tell what type it is?
I'm thinking about which one to get (i'm fairly sure Holden had 2 or 3 options, but that may have changed now). Does anyone know the rough price to get a new sump guard?
And yes, i know i'll have to take it off to do an oil change, but i'm fine with that. As long as i dont ever have to get another sump again! I do kind of find my situations where i can damage my sump quite easily for some reason! Even a bit of country driving, but i never thought i'd destroy my sump in the suburbs.
i havent put mine back on since my last oil change so ill take a pic of it tomorrow and post it up for you it's on a vx ss but should be the same
mines about 5mm thick, being an ex cop car apparently they got a thick bash plate.
you would also assume that the country packs got some form of guard
my vr bt1 didnt have one but looked like at one stage that it did, and the one on this vs bt1 sure saved the sump from the impact of the smash
OK, that's cool, but i just remembered that with the SS's you dont have to move the suspension cross member out of the way to change a sump, so that will be easy to use that one. I'm not too sure if something like that will go on mine! I guess i'll have to call Holden.
Or, do you know the thickness of the metal? Thinking of making my own, especailly if Holden doesn't have any for the L67s.
its just a sheet of galv.
1-2mm at most.
OK sweet, i might give Holden a call sometime then to look into if there is one for a Supercharged VY available. I know the 9C1's came out with them, but again, they are different and not too sure if they'll fit the L67 setup.
If not, looks like i'll be making my own LOL. Does anyone have any other sump guard designs?
And does anyone know of any relevant ADR's in the making of Sump Guards?
mines about 5mm thick steel, same shape as the one pictured above, just thicker than the standard
