i m vy v6 when i accelerate from zero the inst. fuel reading reaches 99.9 (the right last window display) and the fuel average is too high , i was wondring y the inst. fuel reaches 99.9 is it bad for engine.

It depends on how hard you accelerate. The heavier the right foot, the greater the number. It isn't bad for the engine, just your pocket.

The fix is to use a lighter foot.

The consumption will also appear heavier if you take off with a cold engine, as the engine management system enriches the mixture like the old choke used to, and leans off as the engine heats up. Heavy acceleration plus cool motor = 99.9

    + 1.

if you put the foot down flat for over and hour you will easily use more than 100 litres an hour no worries

just think about it. average fuel for a commodore is 15L/100kms. That includes sitting at traffic lights, coasting down hills. So your actual accelerating is gonna be waay above 15

???? sitting at traffic lights is about 2Litres and hour.... actually. coasting down a hill is about the same.

15L per 100k is pretty bad. mine avg's around 9L per 100k. or 16-19 around town.

the avg fuel consumption of a car is based on a constant 100k speed for 100km's. it does not take into account accelerating to get to that speed.

V8 supercars at bathurst. 1000k's 3 tanks of fuel on avg. 160Litre tanks. 480Litres for the race approx. 1000/480= 2L per lap. 6.2K per lap. 161laps

Works out to be (if a V8 supercar was a street car) 48.6Litres per 100K's

got no idea where you got 15L an hour from. you dreaming of your own exclusive conversational topic ? i never made any mention of my car using 15L an hour. dream on
sp001in. 15L/100 is made up by the very little fuel usage when idling, and the great amount of fuel used by taking off and city traffic. original point was, when your average fuel reads 15, expect the instantanious fuel while accelerating to very waay higher than 15

Agreed. My average kms/100 sits at about 13-16/100 town (depending who does the most driving in the week) and my instantaneous read out on take off is about 50-75. Really makes you drive like an old grandpa when looking at those figures.

I think there's just been a small mistake in the typing. No need for everyone to kick a fuss

I just cycle through the mode settings and it comes up in the far right display. I have a Berlina dash so might be different on other models.
