    Default VY Exhaust

    Sorry another exhaust thread....

Ok, so i bought myself a VY Commodore and am looking into putting an exhaust on it.
Have been reading about and have heard alot about a catback 2.5 redback or lukey.
I want an exhaust that, will just give my car abit of a note, i dont want it to sounds like a hoons car etc.

    Any suggestions?

Have a budget of around the 300-400 dollar mark....

    Thanks in advance

g'day. first off, there is a whole batch of exhaust threads if u search for em, but, what the hell.
if its serious 2, lukey dont make exhaust for it.
a lukey system is a deepish growl... not hoonish unless u dump it... looking at rought $400-$500 for cat back.
iv got a mantra cat back with pacemaker extractors and magnaflow cats, VERY loud system, but i love it.. im not sure how much the mantra is as i paid wholesale on mine. but cheaper then lukey.
    hope that helps.

so a lukey system won't fit a VYII even with the single cat?

it probably would with the single cat. Mines a series 2 single cat and off the shelf kits fit it. The exhaust i run now is a 2.5" single off a VU ute.

Save your money. You will never get a decent sound out of a Holden V6 - something to do with the engine firing order.

I actually prefer the sound of 4 and 6 cylinder motors. v8s sound like they're misfiring...

Game thing to say on a site mostly run by V8 drivers. I personally don't mind a good six as long as it isn't too loud. 4 bangers I hate with their exhausts done.
My ideal tone is a nice lumpy cammed V8

Just get one off ebay and fit yourself. It's just a straight bolt on system.

Step 1: Jack the car up and put on stands
Step 2: Remove 4 bolts from cat back mounting points
Step 3: Put new system on and do up bolts
Step 4: Go around the block a few times to get used to the roar
