    Hey guys,

So i've been a member of the forum for a little while now and thought it was about time that I show you my ride. Its my first V8 and I love it! When I first saw it I joked about getting it and within a few weeks I was driving it home. There are some future mods that I would like to do to it but I want to keep it fairly standard, saying that I'll start and wont be able to stop with the modifications like so many people. I plan to keep it for a long time because I love seeing old commodores in mint condition. It gets washed every week and I try to give it a full detail every month so its always looking its best.

    Hope you guys like it.

Let me know what you think.

Hey mate yes it's a very very nice ute. All of your mods and ute remind me of mine except mines the kids version haha. Damn P plate rules....

You should put a sound system in it aswell. A touchscreen can fit in really nice which looks good and also because of the small area in a ute the sound is good aswell. If you would like I can get a picture of my head unit for you and show you if it will help convinve you!

    Thanks ssmate,

Yeah love the thunder and yeah ive looked at those lower honeycomb grilles. They should of come out as standard i think.
How hard are they to install?? do you just take the front bumper off and clip it in??

The R8's set the ute off for me, love them in the shadow chrome!

Ah ok, i should look into getting the lower grille. As you said, it just finishes the front bar off.

I got mine from the "Exhaust Shop" in Frankston (03 8774 0900) for $520 installed. Apparently they are the wholesaler for the performance shops in the area like chevs, APS, MC Auto etc. They stock everything.
I really like the sound of it, nice and throaty/burbly how a V8 should be. I couldnt stand having a V8 that sounded like a vacuum with the stock exhaust haha.

Would like to see some photos of your ute ssmate.

Are you sure about this? I know for a fact that Chev's get their exhausts straight from the manufacturers.

    Hey mate,

    Heres my head unit

Heres my 6x9's behind the head rests

Heres my amp that sits in the middle between the seats

Heres my amp that sits infront of one of my subs behind the seat

Heres my other sub that sits behind the other seat

I also have two 6.5 inch splits, both replacing the door speakers. I have another two 6.5 inch splits which I'm thinking about placing on the corners of the roof and also two 6x9's which I'm thinking of placing one in the top section of each sub box.

    Hey Wikky,

Thanks for the comment, yeah i like the R8 wheels because not everyone has them like the VE gts or senator sigs.

Yeah im not sure at all, its just what he said to me.
You would know more than me, i see your car has had a lot of work at chevs. I should drop in one day there and check all the cars out, I live not far from there.
But as I said, its just what he said, i didnt take it as gospel.

    Hey VZ storm ute,

its quite a sound system you got there.
The touch screen double din fits in snug, looks good.
Whats it like having the 6x9's blaring away behind your head?

    Thanks mate,

It is nice and loud. For some people it can be to loud but you can simply turn the volume down haha but only the girls mainly don't like it to loud. If anyone is going to put their 6x9's there I would highly recommend to get high quality speakers like mine so there is no distortion otherwise it would be VERY annoying!

No worries mate, I wasn't having a go or anything. For sure call into Chev's, the best time is a Saturday usually just after midday. Quite a few of Chev's customers drop in and catch up for a chin-wag. I usually go down a couple of times a month (I live in Nth Vic). Be good to meet you and say g'day. You've got a very clean rig there mate, be good to check it out one day. Cheers.

    Hey guys,

Just a little update, im planning to get some new HPX brake pads from gsl rallysport which are a really good price (holden wanted to charge me $680 for pads and installation). I am also going to get some new Monroe gt sport shocks and thinking SSL springs in the rear just to even the ride stance out. Some new tyres might be on the way too!

I also took some new photos of my ride so I thought I would share them.

Let me know what you think.

    Hey VZHSV,

    Thanks for the comment.

Yeah VZ is my favourite shape Commodore, nice and sleek with its sharp edges.
The XForce system is only mild steel, I figured that when I get extractors and high flow cats I will get them in stainless and replace the cat back with stainless so the whole system is stainless.
    Why you ask?

    Yes it can show TV.

    ZOMBIE,

My brakes on my ute arn't quite as good as they use to be now. What would be required for me to buy to fix this? Just some aftermarket disk brakes and calipers? And how much will this cost and also what are a nice brand please?

I have emailed a performance shop near me asking on what is the best exhaustI can get on power and sound with $2500 and they have told me a mild steel x-force system. I was thinking should I get stainless steel and how much extra would this cost?

    Thank you

    VZ HSV,

Yeah, there's nothing worse then having a 6ltr and not being able to hear its power haha.

I dont have photos of the C5 Caliper yet but my understanding of them is that they are the same caliper used in the HSV range. If anybody knows I would like to know what the differences are.

    VZ Storm Ute,

You could get a performance brake upgrade for better stopping power and there good looks or just get some new HPX police spec brake pads. Ive heard there amazing, you never get brake dust, brake squeal from them and because they're the police spec they have much greater stopping power because they have more pad surface area on the disk. Talk to greg from gsl rallysport in the forum section and he will be able to point you in the right area.

As for you exhaust most people recommend Pacemaker extractors, high flow cats and a twin 2.25" cat back exhaust for the alloytecs. Check out The Ultimate Alloytec Performance Thread and it has some information on whats best for alloytecs along with some videos. There is also a thread in the V6 performance thread about V6 Exhausts. $2500 sounds a bit much for a full system for a V6 so shop around to a few places and ask people in the V6 exhaust thread what they paid.

    Hope this helps.
