Haha, yeah... I think they would look alright.

But the standard R8 rims would look better...

Might get onto hunting some down next year as mod funds are currently $0.00

do u have a garage for that beast? couldn't see one in the vid. it would be a crime to leave it out in the elements 24/7! (not that i can talk, i just blew half my shed fund on a vs ss with a similar spec motor to yours transplanted in it)

you're a braver man than i am leaving it in a train station carpark, i would be chasing an old postie bike, or if i had to get the old skateboard out of retirement for the commute before letting the R8 out of my sight for the day!

Garage is currently being built. The original plan was for me to get the R8 once my house was built but the circumstances of the bimmer being written off changed the timelines and unfortunately the car is in the elements 24/7.

Good thing I have a mate who is a detailer.

Yeah, I'm hoping the fact I am no longer Parking at Frankston station but a station with CCTV camera's throughout the parking area and the fact the car it parked directly in the sight of a CCTV camera will deture any scumbags.

My biggest concern is not that it will get stolen, since it's got an alarm and immobiliser, but that some muppet will try to steal the binnacle guages.

Time will tell I suppose. I almost teared up when I parked it and left today...

Had a fiddle trying to align the rear muffler a little batter today.

Fixed the alignment a big but now the thing taps agains the heat shield thing near the fuel tank. Before it was hard against it so didn't rattle.

Also gave it a quick wash since it was flithy thanks to all the road works going on and took some pictures.

    Thanks guys.

Yeah, she's very clearn compared to some other ones I've seen for about the same price.

Just need to sort out the 4wd spec rear suspension and the R8 rims.

    Then she will be perfect.

Spent some time this morning trying to sort out the rear muffler alignment and rattle I caused trying to align it yesterday.

Basically, when I started, the rear muffler was hard up against the fuel tank heatshield thing and the pipe out the back was resting on the plastic of the bar.

When I popped my head under there, I noticed my rear muffler was attacehd using the rubber mount and some massive cable ties. After some "re-organising" I had about 5mm clearance between the muffler and the heatshield. Took it for a drive and immediately I could hear something was wrong as going down my court in 1st with the engine holding the car back there was a fairly loud banging from the rear. I imagine this was the muffler banging on the heat shield.

After the car warmed up, it all but went away, just around some corners it would still do it.

So this morning I re-organised some more and now have about 15mm clearance.

Just waiting at the moment to a more respectable hour so the neighbours don't hate me before I try it out!

Sooooooo it turns out it wasn't the heat shield that was the cause of the noise.

It was actaully the driver side centre muffler being fouled by the tailshaft.

So I've had to put it all back the way it was and no more noise...

Hoping to have an exhaust shop have a look at it in the near future though...

    Engine wise, no other plans.

The cam and heads give it more go than I will even know what to do with. Already can't go full throttle 1st, 2nd and have to gingerly shift into 3rd.

Maybe WAY down the track see about sorting out a better exhaust system. My min concern is around the merge in the XForce system after the cats.

In the shorter term, I want to lower the back with SSL's as it's FE2 at the moment and then try and chase down some R8 rims.

Though the rims is a "next 24months" type plan.

We're going to be moving into our newly build place before the end of this year so alot of funds will go towards setting that up nicely.

    Well,

Just learnt some more about my car.

Turns out that all the modifications were done in the last 11 to 12 months.

Then the muppet previous owner decided to have a stack, and further compound the issue by not having insurance on the thing.

I was talking with the owner of the workshop that did the mods on the car and he said the damage was mainly panel damage.

Passenger guard and front bar was the main area of damage and there was paint damage down the passenger side all the way to rear quarter. No airbag deployment so it sounds like he side swiped something.

He then had it fixed up, lost his license and sold it.

So the car hasn't had the easiest life.

I'd known that it was in some sorta of bingle as I could see a few little signs here and there of the pain being touched up.

    But yeah, interesting to learn.

Ok, just got back from sorting out the exhaust alignment.

Naturally, the issue wasn't the hanger hitting the tailshaft but the driver side muffler.

When the exhaust was in it's "original" state of not hitting it, there was about 3mm clearance between the lip of the muffler and the tail shaft.

So, after some "persuasion" I managed to re-align jsut the pipes from after the rear muffler.

Seems to be sorted at the moment, the alignment is alot better as I have lots of room on the side that was touching and thus far no sounds to indicate the tailshaft and muffler coming into contact with eachother.

Finally got some more details on what exactly was done to the engine:

    23*/23* custom grind cam
    higgins heads
    double springs
    double chain
    otr
    ripshift
    4.11 diff gears

So it turns out I apparently have a rip shifter... can't say I've noticed the 2nd to 3rd shift being any different from what I would normally expect.

One surprise is that the clutch wasn't done, so that will be the first thing to go.

Toying with rim ideas beyond the VZ R8's... mainly because they will be mega expensive and for the price I can get something REALLY nice.

Jest, sorry bud not a fan of those Rims....

Personally I think the CV8's are better than them....best option is the VZ R8's

I'm not a fan of many aftermarket rims....HSV wheels on HSV's are the best.

On another note....mate...it looks ####ing sick!!!!

I likee a rot. Shop yourself some black or dark grey ones too - will be much easier to keep clean brake dust wise if they also look good on your car.
