Hey guys, been stalking everyone elses rides and blogs and all the rest so i thought i should finally get round to putting my ute up for show. Althought its nothing special, i love it, and its starting to scare some of the V8 boy's.
I'm currently building a Sleeper and as i've got my P plates its a perfect time to do it. I've got a 2006 model VZ SV6 with the following mods.
Brakes:
VE Slotted 322mm Front Rotors + Calipers
Standard Size Slotted Rear Rotors
Remas Pads
Theres about 5mm between the calipers and my rims.
Sound System:
Alpine Double Din Head unit iXA-W404E (steering wheel buttons work as well)
W3V3 12inch JL Sub
XD6001 JL Mono Amp
Custom sound deadening install
Exhaust System:
Ceramic Coated Pacemakers into twin 2.5inch into 2x high flow cats then into single 3inch straight through with a 26inch by 6inch straight through hot dog and a varex muffer with twin tips.
Engine Mods:
2 Hole Mod
Mace Manifold Insulators
20% Power Bond Underdriven Pully Kit
Other mods.
5% tint all round
VY SS dash conversion (half done)
Future mods are going to be...
3.91 diff gears which i should be getting soon hopefully
New speakers/amp/sound deadened.
CPR6 manifold Coated in some heat resistant shit
change my intake pipe to something shiney
Strut brace polished
lowered. only like 40mm down tho. need to keep it reasonable for work...
Get my gearbox tuned...
Engine tune...
All by the time i get off my P's so hopefully before december. probs pushing it but we'll see.
After that is strocker/cam/supercharger.
Yeah i know its gonna be a lot of money and its not gonna be worth it ramble ramble. But i'm doing it cause you dont see many quick SV6's getting around and i want to scare SS's with P plates on. my mates VZ ss 6 speed stock doesn't outrun me to quickly and he hates it
And no cosmetic mods. only changing my interior because it was painted and ####ed... And tint because tint is amazing.![]()
if your going to build a sleeper that you want to be quick.. i suggest ditching the audio gear, i dont see the need for such unnecissary weight... but i hate car audio i reckon its shit and a waste of money
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
Its always fun giving an 8 a run in a 6. Ive had a mates VX SS only pull a car length to 100ks on my dirty old VS. Obviously an 8 is better value for money and sounds better and blah blah blah but its good having something different
nice ute, love the brakes..
but help me to understand to as why all these v6 owners think they can scare v8's? obviously you cant and never will, specially when its stock and if you think you are well they are just goin soft on you so you dont get embarrassed
please tell me how a ute with big brakes and an ss kit is a sleeper...
Put twin snails under the bonnet, Plumb back BOV and run some serious boost. Run a 10.** et on street tires, then scare the V8 boys...
There is no such thing as stupid questions, Only stupid people.
I do like your white dash, and your big brakes to a degree, but I couldn't be further away from scared.
Be careful with your VY SS dash conversion, you'll need a VZ SS speedo as the VY ones don't fit.

Nice ute mate, very clean, however being a stock auto sv6 there isnt really to much to worry about there lol
Heads & Cammed, Soon to be Blown
haha. i knew i was gonna get flamed and a lot of people disagree. yeah my mate bought a V8 to beat me. yeah my utes nothing special and all the rest. but hes currently hating the fact that his stock v8 doesn't slaughter my semi stock v6. and plus i do a lot of KM's and all the rest for work so i cant use a thirsty v8 cause i tend to drive rather flat out and chew the fuel.
Plus insurance and parents and what not. Atm i'm more after the wtf this v6 is keeping up with me... and its got P plates wtfs going on. or I'm not thrashing this v6... I go to harries and munchies and all that. and i rarely see a V6 commo/falcon with any serious work done to it. lots of V8's kicking around. i know for a fact i'll never scare any half decent v8. but its when they second guess me and think i'm gonna get flogged. excluding you bigger v8's with some extra work.
And my car looks standard. minus the brakes and diff tips. Not on the ground. not big #### off cromies. not cop bait. and its a SV6 so it comes with that kit... thus standard.
And i like my music, thats why i got a sound system. if i was serious about racing and all the extra weight that much i could just take it out.
Thanks for the positive feedback tho. and negative, both helps![]()
i dont race everyone >.> whered that come from. i could be talking about down the strip or for what ever other reason. i dont line everyone up and try and be cool. i know my utes not anything super flashy or fast or special. geeze, P plates really got a shit name. and as for flat out. i dont mean 150km/h in 60zones. i'm not stupid and a retard. and i dont try to impress anyone. i personally dont care what people think about me and my car. i'm doing it because its what i want. i made this so i could get opinions and to show people what i'm doing and for advice etc.
My goal is to scare a v8 or atleast make them go, hmm thats not as slow as i thought. anything more is a bonus. i'm not out to race every second person and "impress"
Correct. I was "beaten" by a VZ exec on my way home from Brisbane yesterday....
We're not flaming you, we're just telling you how it is. I like the colour of your car, and the stock appeal of it, but there must be something wrong with your friends SS if it's having trouble running away from you. I used to own a supercharged, cammed and worked V6 with 240rwkw and I was still left for dead by any of the LSx fellas - even the VT SS LS1's.

Indeed, see I'm only trying to help you go about it a smarter way. If you're somewhat of a clever biscuit and handy with tools I'd suggest forced induction - mainly turbocharging. Make sure you set out your path now otherwise you'll end up buying things that you're going to replace anyway eg. your exhaust - if you did go turbo you've now got a redundant set of extractors and an exhaust that will have to be modified to cope with the extra power. Cams are EXTREMELY expensive in alloytecs because well.... there's 4 of them.

I got my extractors and got them coated cause i'm going super charger. i thought about turbo and all that and went supercharger instead. the guys down at A1 exhausts at brendale said my exhaust was way to big for standard and was perfect for a supercharger. and 1 guy even said it was maybe a bit to big still. but i'm not exactly sure who to believe. I've also done some research into a cam and found out its 4k. I'm preparded to spend that kinda money cause i like cars and spending money on them its kinda my hobby. i actually spent a long time researching bits and pieces and thought about getting a 8. and the costs to get a quicker V6 were more and all the rest.
Lol thats why it says in progress... i mainly made this thread to get some ideas and opinions.
Id much rather add the weight for a decent stereo. I love sitting in my car and listening to my music loud.
The factory blue looks so damn good too.
well you obviously havent researched long enough. the v6 has its place in fleet cars completely standard. please dont insult LS drivers by thinking your scaring them. theyre not going to care if your 8 car lengths behind rather than 10. you have got peoples opionions now, please dont waste any more money
