Great find, love blue colour and the 6.0L is a better starting point than the 5.7L
I know you want to keep mods wallet friendly but in the long term you would do better (power and fuel economy wise) with a mafless tune and OTR.

Thanks i like it and it`s neat and tidy and i`m happy to be part of the 6.0l club,i had a clean `78 HZ premier 5.0l TH400 in atlantis blue and sold it ten yrs ago to buy a unit. I bought a 1990 corolla seca 1.6 carby manual for transport,i had it for ten yrs and it never missed a beat and was looking into a sportivo camry or aurion but i missed my old V8 and talked myself into getting one,so figured i might as well make it a good one.
I have done some reading up on mafless and maf. I have found that mafless is a aussie only thing for 3 reasons.
1 Is if a GTS has it then it`s the best way to get MAX power.
2 Is the gen 3 maf`s and the entire intake ducting are accepted to a restriction(VYII HSV`s are the exception but still run a maf) and there has to be a reason why HSV removed it for the GTS.
3 It`s easy for the tuner to just remove the maf and edit the tune to run on a MAP sensor and sell you a OTR,it`s a business after all.
In the U.S they mainly run maf`s. Replacment highflow maf`s are cheap and easy to get(and performance parts are cheap for them over there as we all know) A maf tune is actually much more precise for day to day driving and highway cruising and more economical as it responds to changes in airflow/temp/density much quicker than a map sensor. MAP tunes work fine but are actually better suited for WOT work ie..race cars/drag cars/cranky cammed weekend warriors.
I cant justify spending $600 or more on some moulded plastic that looks out of place and for a few more KW`s that you see only on the dyno.
(i can`t help but feel i`m being serverly ripped off when i price them and everyone is around the same price and that sounds sus to me)
I read somewhere that a monaro changed from maf with a tune to mafless otr and tune to suit and picked up .2 and 2mph over the 1/4
The VZ maf is a big unit and doesn`t really have any impact on the airflow like vt-vy gen 3 maf`s
I can get a OTR that runs a maf but i think the boss will really baulk at doing something like that as it looks purposeful (it`s too fast as it is and doesn`t need to go any faster im told)
Where i can get a catback exhaust no problems `cause it sounds nice, i find extractors expensive for what they are and they look purposeful so that would be another hurdle but i do want some though.
Can you get defect for a OTR? I think it might be a grey area?
Fair enough.
