Brought the commodore for my first car for about $12,000 with 79,000 kms on the clock Dec 2010, when i brought the car i had little mechanical expierance and didnt know anything about modifying commodores but since than I have started my apprenticship as a Diesel Fitter and work on light vehicles and machinery, so now I've learnt alot mechanic wise and want to start modifying my vy acclaim, I have alot of plans but on a apprentice wage it might take awhile but should be worth it.
any advice would be great especially on the plans I've made for the body work
heres my VY before any mods

.............................
Looks good man. I honestly don't like the rims, but it's not my car haha!
You got it a bit expensive, but the k's are low also so i guess it's a gain.
EDIT: BTW, the SSX bar isn't too bad, but it's starting to get more popular.
Yea Im planning on buying new rims soon, the ones on there now are just ones I swopped a mate for, remember I was talking to you about the rims on your ride ? im looking for something similar
and yea i like the ssx front just hope the clubsport sides and rear will match it.
Looks good not too many red ones need bigger rims.

Sorry mate if you get 19's you'll still need them rolled.. same shit with 18's depending if you go lower.. If you get the place you buy the rims from to do it, they shouldn't charge mroe than $150 to get them rolled
i have 19s on my vt un rolled there fine and 20s on a vx un rolled.

yea i wasnt going to touch the springs just leave it as the normal ride height, when i get my rims orderd ill see if i need the guards rolled for 19's but I think i wont need to because your the first person to say they need doing for 19's.... but i hope not because i live in a small town so ill have to go somewhere to get it done
Sorry, most people go lower with bigger wheels because bigger wheels will make your car higher = not lowered looks funny :S
You'll be fine but if you want it lowered you'll want it rolled. But 19/20's with standard height will look pretty bad lol.
EDIT: It depends on offset and what tyres too obviously.. but I wont get into that.
yea i was going to buy the lowest profile tyres like 245/30r19, but ill see when i chuck the new wheels on if the car needs lowering, if i did get it lowered i'd probably go SL all round. The only reason i didn't want to touch the ride height is because i live in a small town with some bad roads so i didnt wanna be scraping the guards around town
ok so i've been looking around for an exhaust system and think im going to go for this pacemaker full system
VT VX VY V6 Sedan Pacemaker Headers + Exhaust System | eBay
but with the straight through pipe with no rear mufler, I know abit pricey but its a complet system and would make it easier bits and pieces
what do you guys think ?
WOOOOW No way I would pay that much for an exhaust.. Unless it's an 8 with stainless steel etc..
My opinion would be to get the guards rolled then get your rims, then it's hassle free and you can do it when you want.
But with the exhaust, you can get pacemakers for around $500 on ebay, then i got my exhaust all done with tips etc for $600 or so.. So my exhaust i think was $1190. That was 2 1/2 inch into hot dog into rear resonator (muffler)
You can do alot easier on the price..
Jesus christ thats expensive! just grab a redback cat back and extractors, open the inlets on the stock cat and call it a day.
Ok thanks on the advice on the exhaust
ok ill buy pacemaker extractors, high flow cats, and a 2.5 cat back
a few people have told me that a single catback system will be better for the V6 than a twin catback ?
Fair point, but in my opinion I think if you want an exhaust and haven't got one already, try get something different if it's not much more clostly.
@Chilly: No idea on the single catback vs twin, i always thought twin was better with 100cspi cats but no idea. (i think it's cspi.. i know what it is just not the abbreviation)
It's CPI (cells per inch), and a ecotec/Buick will not out flow a single 100cpi cat, let alone two of them. Twin exhausts on the ecotecs sound god awful - I used to have one on mine and changed back to a single.
well I've had my car on carsales.com for a few months now and a bloke rang me today and wanted to buy it so he came around and checked her out
he told me "you can pretty much consider it sold"
getting 10,000 for it
Why were you moding it if you were selling it? 10k aint bad lol.
I've had it up on carslases for a while now and didn't think anyone was going to buy it but just got this phone call out of the blue from this guy that works at the mines near by and he seems interested but we'll wait and see what happens
if he buys it I'll look into getting a Hilux or something
