    Default My VYII Supercharged Calais

Hi Guys, This is my first decent car my first car was a Getz so this is one hell of an upgrade lol.

    Purchased: 1 July 2011
    Name: Tom
    Age: 21
    Model: 2004 VYII Calais
    Colour: Martini Olive
    Engine: L67 Factory Supercharged
    Gearbox: 4 Speed Auto
    Wheels: Factory 17"s
    Tyres: Bridgestone Potenza Adrenelin RE001

    Current Modifications:
    K&N Air Filter
    10PSI Pulley on Charger
    EBC Redstuff Brake Pads

    Future Mods:
    Power:
    1.9 Ratio Rockers
    CAI
Maybe Intercooler and Exhaust if I can find the money

    Future Mods:
    Exterior:
Only thing i might change is to VZ Tail Lights, I like the factory look of the Calais
Would Love the "Supercharged" Badge on the sides to illuminate but havent figured out how yet lol
    Statesman/Caprice Repeaters... Maybe

    Future Mods:
    Interior:
    Factory Bluetooth Kit
Ipod Connection Kit for the 6 Stacker Factory Stereo
Change Interior Lights to warm white LEDs to take strain off battery
Switch to disable rear parking sensors

Yeah so this is my new baby. Its in really good nick for its age both inside and out.

Trivia: The original purchaser of the car was the premier's department of queensland government. No wonder the back doors feel loose, it was probably a Chauffer car.

Does anybody know anywear that makes custom switches to go into the console where the 'phone' button goes for the bluetooth. I wouldn't mind getting one made with like an "((R))" logo on it for disabling the rear parking sensors.

Nice Calais, future mods seem good, had a modded SC VS wagon before the senator

Why do you want to disable the rear sensors, definite safety feature imho.
I just had Greg (ASR Audio) install the aux input into my factory stereo, works perfect.
He might be able to put together the disabling switch for you as he used to do an "aux" switch but now he input has automatic switching when you plug in.

    Hi Surfwagon,

    Thanks for your comment.
I want to be able to disable the sensors because when i reverse with a trailer on i just get a constant wail from the sensors. apparently the factory electrical connector is supposed to have a reed switch that disables them automatically but mine must be aftermarket (it was on the car when i bought it).

Otherwise the sensors are awesome for parking

Now makes sense, didn't even think of backing up with trailers.

    DSLXIK,

Yeah I quite like the front too, goes really well imo but I haven't driven any other v6 so I have nothing to compare it to. I reckon it would take off much better with an LSD though. I always end up spinning one back wheel coming out of driveways when the car isnt very level

Barnzey, there is a Park Assist button for the VY/VZ. It has a 'P' on it with radio waves to a traffic cone, I'll try and find a picture.
This was a feature on the WK/WL Caprice with front Park Assist, my guess to disable it while driving in traffic. Probably your best bet if you want a button like that, and easiest place would be Holden or a wreckers.

Car does look great though bud!

Cannot for the life of me find a picture of a WL Caprice one. It is the same size as the ESP/TC/PWR button and is mounted behind the power window switches where yours has that little rubber coin tray. There is a mounting block to go with it. Apologies but I don't have a picture or part number.

The symbol is similar to the one in the picture on the right hand side.

    Hope this helps.

Well today was a crappy day . had to have my car trucked to ultratune cause the altenator decided to die.
this is the latest thing in the chain of faults this car has had since i bought it *grumble*. I'm looking at an 07 VE Calais V6, i love everything about them... except the front end :/ Does anybody have any recomendations on which colour looks best on a VE? the one at the dealer im test driving tomorrow is a dark blue and tbh its not nice.
    but this is... http://www.themotorreport.com.au/con...-m:610x450.jpg

TBH, if i could afford a ve calais, i would be buying one, i love them, i found a white one, with 66k on the clock, bob tail, black wrapped stock rims, cream leather, was really nice, but wanted 28k an i cant afford that, i would either go with white, cream, that light blue color (not sure on name) or black, but thats just me

Yer I agree. This is the link to the actual car, they will sell it to me for $22K Driveaway. 2007 HOLDEN CALAIS V VE MY08.5 Sedan Cars For Sale in QLD - carsales.com.au 1247 1252 4294965857 4294965739&silo=Stock&eapi=2

I have sort of come to the realisation that I am going to have to buy something newer to avoid having too many issues with it. I also don't want to go into a lower model commy, having the super6 calais I quite like the features, comfort and gadgets that the calais has.

Can you fit an VE SS bodykit to the calais?

Sorry to hear you have had some bad luck with the VY but that second VE Calais you show looks very nice.
btw don't spoil the nice lines of the VE Calsis with the SS kit especially a rear spoiler, just lower the car a bit and it will look super with some bigger wheels.
If you really want a rear spoiler check out the Holden By Design (HBD) lip spoiler for the VE's.
