- V2 Monaro 7 Litre 6 SPD, 74 SLR torana, 2010 MPS 3
Hello All,
Excuse my long time membership and low post count. I plan to make up for it with this post that hopefully most of you will appreciate and enjoy.
So this is my 2003 Monaro. Last of the Monaro's with the early vx style dash.
I bought the car back in April 2010. When i bought the car originally it was a one owner car that was completely original and had every service receipt and every other receipt under the sun. The car has progressed alot since those days and to keep every receipt i would need a spare room to keep them all in.
I started off with a number of different wheels and setups. First thing i did was the numberplates, 5% tint and the first exhaust which exited on one side. After driving the car for a while I got bored and wanted it to sound tuff. I carried ouut a cam upgrade myself in my garage, got it tuned and it happened to make 296 rwkw with a cam only LS1. This is how the car remained for about two years powerwise. The upgrades that commenced in this time were mostly all visual, starting with a set of 20" VE GTS wheels. This set of wheels stayed on the car for about one week. They made the car handle like a cruise liner and i did not like the feeling at all. I had already sold the original wheels so i bought a set of VE SS 18 inch wheels and had them fitted with Falken semi slicks. This setup was good as every bush in the car also got replaced with super pro and nolathane. I did one track day at wakefield with this setup and managed a lap time of 1 minute 13 seconds. I soon got over the look of this setup and moved on to a set of VY SS 18's painted black. This setup also did not last long, this time when I thought about changing the wheels again I thought I will only change the wheels one more time and that will be it. I then bought the car a set of FR19's Brand new.
I just love the rear bar of the VZ Monaro soo much that I had to have it. This led me to Elite fabrications in Windsor. They fabricated the alloy fuel tank to fit a dual exhaust setup and somehow managed to get a bigger capacity out of it as well. This allowed me to fit the dual exhaust. While I was at Elite, I noticed an old IRS commodore rear end sitting in the yard and enquired about it, They told me I could buy it off them for a price and it was shortened to allow the fitment of more dish (5 Inches of dish), a price was aggreed on and i bought the rear end. After this the rooflining started to sag so i got it fully re trimmed in red Suede as the future plan is a full red leather interior. I then installed a full fibre-optic light kit into the rooflining for something different. In the never ending wheel saga I wnet back and got the rear FR19's remade. This time with a 4.5 inch inner and a 5 inch polished outer. This is the wheel setup the car still has today as I am finally happy...
Anyway Ill let the pictures do the talking.
