All fixed now mate. Has since been back for some touch ups, but overall the job was pretty good![]()
Should have added this ages ago considering I did it well over 6 months ago.......
Did some renovations in the tray. Decided (after alot of mental planning) to add some light to the tray of the ute. Not sure if anyone has attempted it before, but thought i'd give it a crack.
Used 4 30cm sealed mini CCFL's to a switch in the tray with an override in the cabin to isolate the whole thing.
Here's a few progress pics. Should be finished tomorrow with the only thing to worry about is the clearance on the inverters that are stuck to the side of the tray. Also added a month or so later a 12v outlet in the back for car fridges and the like.

very unusual Adam, looks the goods and is practical. Look forward to seeing it sometime. Havent seen anything like that before, congratulations. Business venture anyone?
Definately a great little add on mate. I've seen this in action many times and it works quite well. Great idea.
85% tint? isnt the legal limit 75%????
Ahhh i see haha
Awesome green man and nice pic.s. Would love as a wagon
Cheers mate. Not sure there ever was any hothouse wagons?
Hey! i also got a 03 vy storm. Did you change the standard stereo over yourself? I really want one with an AUX input. Also have you modified the speakers? I was thinking about getting a little sub or something, but i dont know where they'd put it haha, behind the seats maybe?
i put a LED strip in over the weekend, cant tell its there when its turned off, and the switch is hidden right under the parcel shelf, puts out enough light, just gota clean everything up now. might be going for a full line around the tray, does help to be able to see now.
No I had the head unit that is in my pictures installed by an alpine dealer here in Adelaide. Have since swapped out for an IDA-X305 which was just plug an play.
I dropped in some pioneer 2 ways I used to have in my previous VS when I got the car. Can't remember what they were, but dropped straight in and are an obvious improvement over the stock speakers. Keep meaning to get a pair of splits to replace the factory ones as they are just sitting there not connected at the moment, but that would require efffort, lmao.
Have thought about a sub, but I really don't spend enough time in the car to enjoy it. There was a shallow mount clarion sub at one stage intended for small spaces, it was about the size of a thick phone book but never found any reviews of it to warrant finding one.
Oh, and my aftermarket lid which is nearing 5 years old now is starting to lift on the clear coat, time for a rub back and re-clear I think![]()
