My VY S1 Storm

Okay, so been lurking for a while here and have spoken up recently so I thought I should post 'the ride'.

Bought her/him/it back in May after having tired of the series II VS exec and the increasing leaks and rattles (the resale plummet also sucked) So it was time to beg to the bank again and start all over.

It had been locked up in this guys shed for the best part of its 2 years on the road and when I test drove it it had a shade over 13,000km on the clock. Have only recently just clocked over 24k. The guy I got it from was sad to see it go, but a new company car beckoned and this was pretty much a much loved but unwanted car. So I scored it for $25k. I was a bit upset that I had to settle for an auto, but it was such a score, too hard to pass up!

The only options from the factory that I am aware of are the leather wheel and the gear selector, other than that it was all stock.

Since I have had it, have spent around $3k on the Lid, tray liner, 2 1/2 stainless cat back system from D&T, new Alpine HU with ipod interface, 85% tint and a hands free kit for my now obsolete phone. Need to investigate a bluetooth solution for the new W800i so it can all be tucked away.

Other than that, not much else planned. Thought about lowering it, but after carrying a few heavier loads and seeing the scrapes and tailgate hit the ground, I have had second thoughts. The car does occasionally go bush afterall.

Looking forward to the upcoming Adelaide meet and catching up with a few faces and perving on some shiny metal things. aka cars....

Have been a westie all my life. Pics in the port were after a cruise n pics day last august. We were stumped coming up with places to take decent pics. Started in the port ended up at Mt Lofty summit. It just turns out that most of the best pics were from the docks.

Still trying to see if I can get a mate to come along with his digital SLR to see if some guys are interested in getting some more higher qual images printed up......

Geeez, had almost forgotten about this thread.

Not much has changed since it first went up. The stock original tyres have just clocked up 35,000k's and the rears are nearing replacement time.

Nothing special planned for her in the near future as it would be money better spent elsewhere on more important things. Sadly though, might have to consider off loading her sooner rather than later if I want to look at buying a house in the near future. The budget just can't stretch to have a toy like this if you know what I mean.......

Oh, on the NaNaNa Na NaNaNa Na bit. I went into a servo one night to pay for fuel and the guy behind the counter was humming it. Stupid me had no idea what he was on about until he pointed it out to me........

Holden used the song in an advertising campaign for the ute a while back. Was when they could still get away with showing the car doing circle work "creating a storm" so to speak.

Can't find any clips on the usual sites anywhere right now.....

In my stupidity today leaving a carpark at work, I forgot to check my mirrors and kissed a cyclone gate post.....

Definitely an insurance job. The pain is that i'm with CGU who put it all to tender these days. You can put in a request for a certain repairer, but you are not guaranteed.

Thankfully i'm allowed one at fault claim per year with out affecting my no-claim bonus...

I'm just so pissed at myself for taking off and not checking the mirror. I must have pulled out of that spot hundreds of times before and missed the gate by miles

My uncle did the same sort of thing with a couple differences

Similarities: Was at work, backing out of a car park. didn't check mirrors.
Differences: Backed straight into a pole and wrote off his VS which was meant to be mine (but It worked out better for both of us, he got a new car, and I got the car I wanted )

Anyway, point of my post... Love the VY Utes, the colour, when it first came out I loved it, then wasnt so sure, now I'm startin to like it again. Hope all goes well and its all fixed up soon
