    Default SS or Clubsport?

    My budget was $30,000.

I was thinking of a VY clubby (2002) or a VX-R8 (2002) but was turned off by the $3000 per year insurance premium.

Instead, I bought a SS VY Series 2 (2004) and got the clubsport kit put on.
Insurance is $1,200 and it's still under warantee.

Other mods: 18" chrome rims, 2.5" cat back exhaust.

Would anyone choose an SS over a clubby?

The only thing better are the badges on the SS!

    Personally I'd take the cash...

With it I'd buy a VS S/C Calais then spend $6000 on the motor and put a HSV I just ate one sticker on the back window......and still have $10,000 in my pocket.

    Very tight!

    Well done

Leave the SS badges just replace the one on the Boot or front bonnet...

Nice looking SS. Havent seen any with a clubby kit yet, nice idea hehe.

I would probably do the same as you did because as you said the insurance is heaps with VX R8 Clubby.

wont you have to get a new front bar.. cos the current headlights have the small round park light in them and it appears to be molded into the front...

I'd of rather paid higher insurance to have a legit clubby with the clubby/r8 interior mate......

    Still nice.

The new car warantee on the VY will come to good use. Ive already had 2 warantee jobs.
Also, $2000 per year extra on insurance is alot of money.

I like the VY kit better than the VX kit.
VY interior is near new and the SS seats are pretty comftable.

I used to have a VT. It's very similar to the VX.
BUT theres a big difference between the interiors of the VX to VY.
