you loose top speed, but gain accelleration,
is your wagon an ex cop car just for curiosity, because of the wheels, lsd etc etc,
im only taking a guess that you car looks higher because the tyres are a slightly lower profile (but wider) than the standard, ie yours is 225, 60, r15 as opposed to my 205, 65 r15, and does your compliance plate say fe2?

do you reckon the ratio will be a good change or bad in terms of nice increase 0-100 or 1/4 time and slight rpm increase at 100 fuel economy? sorry for questions
nah its cool, yes it will make the 0-100 a little quicker,
and yes it will raise the revs at 100km/h about 200rpm i think, as for fuel economy, around town you wouldnt notice it and on the free-way i dont think it will change it much at all, because as soon as you hit a hill it changes down a gear and revs it tits off for a little while, where as the diff may put it in a sweet spot if you know what i mean and may not need to change back...

got the diff in today cause it was my rdo, definitely feels better, will have to get it tuned very soon so i can also have the ratio modified in the computer,
will hold full judgment of how it is until its tuned as it accelerates and changes gears a little funnier as its not doing the speed it thinks its doing,
here's a few pics of the destruction and final product
price break down
Diff + 2x CV Shafts = $450 + 70 postage
Seals = $30
Oil = $46
Fitting + Checking = done by me.

Sounds good andy!! cant even hear it till you up it. which is gd id say
It's all in the computer mate, your local dealer can do it for you altho may charge like a wounded bull. Or get it changed with a tune, i beleive VCM Suite can alter all those settings inc transmission.
bludeck, yeah its pretty quiet really and dosnt pop and crackle while driving, that i can hear, when you start it in the morning and it idles at around 1,000rpm and makes a rather nice audible note,
vinnie, yeah, holden will probably charge around 30 minutes labor or get a vcm tune, which is the way im going

theres a deal going around at my tafe which is the 800 plus 100 of your own and it gets you a 170 piece set with a box..
wondering if i should go for something like that, or get a smaller kit with bluepoint or something, but 800 bucks worth of bluepoint is prob a 10mm spanner.
maybe something like sid chrome? any suggestions?
sorry im going a bit off topic..

nah your right bud.
i ended up with getting a repco set. they are made alongside with Sidchrome and Stanley, still have lifetime warranty etc, they still appear to be casted and finished nicely.
just getting the catalog out, my kit is a 309 piece, 2198.90 with a bonus 7 draw roller cabinet valued at 649. part number is RTK9250
the equivelent sidchrome set is 2795.00 with 265 piece and a bonus bottom box, rattle gun and neumatic stubby rachet valued at 1097.
funnily enough my box is the same as the sidchrome, tools look the same and the draw inserts are the same but a different colour. for less money and more tools.
the only advise i can give with the tool grant is if you cant afford to buy a big set straight up, use your money to buy a big tool box, top and bottom jobbie. its the worst thing when you buy a 8-900 box with tools and they only give you a 4 draw thing to do the job. you will really hate ending up with a lot of tools and not being able to put them anywhere, so id concentrate on a big box before concentrating on tools
