flairing the end will hold it in the box more so it doesn't fall out.
what do you mean different setup to the vz, the air box will be on the same side as the vy and yes it will prob take some time for the ecu to recognise more air coming in

I doubt flaring the end does anything at all.
I believe it just makes it look like the standard funnel.

That's what i figured...
On the vy the box is on the same side obviously but the snorkel is different. And like everyone said the coolant reservoir is right there so i decided to put the hole on the side rather than the front.
Has anyone else done this mod to a vy?

How have most people done theirs on a VY? As I have a VY s1 which will be getting this mod very soon, but im not sure to put the hole on the front, or passenger side, or both, of the air box.
Cheers lads

The VY airbox looks rather hard to do and a bit of a waste of time as the hole you cut out is rather small so you wouldn't get much of that induction growl.

Hey guys, I've never looked under the bonnet of a VY, but I thought the airbox in a VY was the same as a VZ. Not Hard to do at all. I was able to stick both the MCAI shroud and airbox in a vice when I was working on it, and cos its really soft plastic it just springs back into shape. Soft plastic also means drilling is very easy. I marked out my holes, used a small drill bit (about 0.5cm diameter), drilled every cm then held the drill on and easily moved from one hole to the next, using it as a hole saw.
This mod seems to work well with the alloytecs, maybe the ecotecs respond differently to this mod.
Anywway, was washing my car the other day and my mags are just filthy and I'm struggling to get them clean. Can anyone recommend a product to clean my mags before I polish them, or does it just take a little more elbow grease to clean them.

I did toy with the idea of painting them gun metal grey, a similar colour to the Lamborghini Reventon's mags:

Hey buddy,
Those mags aren't grey, they're black with carbon fibre inserts.
Well at least that's what colour mine are lol

Thanks for pointing that out VT-565. Ok I guess the colour I'm looking for is similar to what the HSV Coupe GTO's had.
