Default require 12v(beside ciggy lighter to wire up GPS

Hi there just new to JC and found it really interesting on the forums regarding VZ and VX commodores.
got a SV6 myself and wanted to hardwire up a tom tom.holden dealer says you cant pick any old 12v wire as it will upset the ECU and the engine etc.
so where can i find some 12V????? beside the ciggy lighter? is there connector under the glovebox like earlier models?

If you used the PCM power wire the ECU might get upset.. but if you use an ACC 12v wire (like the cigarette lighter) I can't see why this would cause problems. It's no different than having it permanently plugged in via the normal lighter plug.

The only thing that could happen is the fuse could blow if you had a high current draw through the lighter socket, and using the TomTom, but I doubt the TomTom draws that much current to really matter.

get the mobile phone patch harness - part number 92175840

Comes with handy instructions on how to install it, only costs like $10-$15 and takes all of 10 mins to install.

Theres a plug under the trim where the passengers right leg is (its outlined in your owners manual anyway) which has both constant 12 volt and accessory 12 volt.

I run a few from mine

- bluetooth and phone charger
- auxillary cig lighter power socket in the glovebox
- radio reception booster
- CB radio
- center console light

havent had a problem yet although I can forsee people saying "its overloaded"

Failing that Im gonna get a smokers pack in the next few days for my GPS as it has a 12 volt cig lighter and it replaces the flip down pocket.
