Retired the VS SS with My new Phantom VY SS

Hi Mate,

VZ SS Guards are cheap as if you check out ebay or holmart up to $400 a set, you can pick up cheap SS Flutes (up to $140) these days just make sure you get indicator lens & looms - but the HSV ones still run a high price (up to $400 with lenes).

The bonnet work took a few weeks and all up with the guards, bonnet scoop, front bar, grill and bonnet redesign ran me at around the $2500 mark with paint and fitting.

I will be uploading some upto date picks soon as I am fitting up an Alpine DVD H/U & rear screens as well as IPhone mounting audio & video docking unit.

I ripped out the cloth Red & Black interior and replaced it with a Black Leather interior, fitted a Big brake setup with Curved slotted Front & Rears rotors as well to help pull it up.

Hi everyone, just thought I would update the thread as I have ripped out the Red Cloth interior and replaced it with a Black SS Leather interior, I have removed the factory headunit and installed the W502E Alpine DVD Head unit with Rear Screens and IPod inter-connect. Fitted up 6.5" Kenwood HQ Splits up front & 7x10" in the rear with a 5 Channel Amp & Sub to come shortly.

I have also fitted a HSV Gauge pod with Red Faced VDO Gauges, the last couple of things left are a full set of Coil-overs and a set of VE GTS 20" once the rear guards have been pumped out so I can fit the 9.5" rears.

Whats with the VT/VX roof lining? Noticed ur roof light is in the ctr & not at the front!

Yeah I though it was weird too, but I have a mate with a Series 1 SS as well with the same light mounted in the middle......will change that later down the track when I find all the bits to swap it over to a black roof lining.

looks good mate, should get some form of badge for the front grill though looks a too rice'burnin to be a commodore for my liking, looks good and definately stands out but...i dont think it belongs

Thanks mate, yeah I have been thinking about some sort of badge but I am in the process of building a custom bar with a HSV style grill so I will decide once I have it finished. As for the scoop it's about to be changed over to a Walkinshaw style and I will post pics up once finished.

You know I was looking at the grill pics a few posts up and thinking that an "SS" in the middle of the new grill would be perfect for it. Evidently you had the same idea and it is. Great stuff.

i really like the idea of the ss badge in the grill and it does look pretty good, but i reckon you should try getting a ve ss badge there, since it doesnt lean over to one side like the vy badge does. just a thought mad car btw love what you've done with it all

Yeah I thought about the VE badges but in the end the VY/VZ ones just suited the look I was after. and besides the one thing about the VY/VZ SS is that you don't know its an Real SS ( due to everyone wacking SS kits on their V6 exec's) until it's passing you or you come up behind it......this way they see you coming and get out of your way........LOL

No I purchased a very Good & low usage full set from a VZ SS and installed them.....makes a hugh difference in comfort over the cloth.

Car looks great, really like the shiney SS badge in the grille, really sets it off.

Thanks guys, I will post up some more pics shortly as I just completed the Audio setup with Alpine PDX amps & Sub so now the things cranks hard both inside & outside
