Default Retired the VS SS with My new Phantom VY SS

Hi everyone,

Well I am new to the forum and I thought I would share my new Ride with you all, its pretty stock at the moment but that will not last long - I had it 2 days and replaced the stock SS 18's with the Photon 19's which made a big difference in it's street appeal.

Plans will mainly be for the body - custom made Grill insert with black mesh ( get rid of the lion logo), HSV Bonnet Lip as well as black mesh for the lower section of the Bumper, graft on the new Walkinshaw V Scoop and open up the bonnet to let it breath, air induction and exhaust ( not going to stick a Clubby KIT on it...to many out their already...boring) & Interior which I have also started on like replacing stock bits with Leather and getting quotes to replace the door inserts and seats with Black leather and suede.

New Audio/DVD and speakers plus R8 dash Pod with Red faced gauges to match the dash.

I will post more photos as I work through it but hope you like my new Ride.

Regards

Rob

Nice and clean mate. Get your exhaust done first. If you want people to notice your car (which it sounds like you do), get your exhaust done to give it that nice deep growl.

I would go a twin 2.5" lukey catback with a hotdog in the rear. Nice and deep with no drone.

Nice car mate.
A few things... if your going to cam it later, consider a 3" system.
For extractors i would go Pacemaker. Either go 4 into 1's or Tri-y's. 4 into 1's are better for cammed applications and higher end power i believe. Tri-y's are better for low-mid range power = everyday driving. I have Pacemaker tri-y's on my VY SS.
Get magnaflow hi-flow cats. As for the cat back bit, x-force i have been told is good (recommended by Brad at Enhanced Automotive - a sponsor on this site). They sell them on e-bay for about $350 for 2.5" cat back system. Redback is also good as well as pacemaker for cat back exhausts.
For air intake, go for an over the radiator intake.
And definitely get a tune
And also lower it, will look heaps better on those wheels lowered.

Keep us updated.

Thanks for the advise, yep it's booked in nect week to be dropped another Inch, I was thinkin the over the radiator would be the way to go...very close to what was on my VS SS.

I have a feeling it may of already had some work done in the turning dept as when you put it in power mode it almost throws you through the seat when it changes gears....and gets very tailly at that point.....as far as the exhaust it seems to be very sedate at low revs but growls when you put the boot in..so I will have to investigate via a good exhaust place what may already be inplace.

I think it is normal for it to growl when u boot it but normally be quiet. My friends WL caprice has the same sort of thing and has a stock exhaust i believe. It will give a bit more kick if you put it into power shift, but generally if you get your car tuned they work on the power shift tune.
Also if you have had it tuned, your pcm (computer) may be locked, as tuners do this to protect their tunes from being copied. If it has been locked, you need to pay about $170 to have it unlocked, unless you find out where it was originally tuned and they may be able to unlock it and put on the stock tune free of charge.

As for the over the radiator, you will need a MAFLESS tune (the tune you want for an LS1 anyway) as the over the radiator doesn't have a place for your MAF sensor (some do but it's not common). Get an alloy over the radiator intake, they look heaps better than the plastic ones but will be $600-700.

You could also look into getting a mail order tune (i have one from enhanced automotive) which was on special for $350 (normal $500 i think) which isn't as good as a proper dyno tune ($1000) but will let you fit an otr intake and gives you a fair bit more power.

Ok i better stop waffling now lol...

Can anyone suggest a good exhaust place and tuner around Brissy....prefer close to Capalaba if you know of anyone?

Also does anyone know of any custom fabricators in Brissy who can re-work the Plastic front bumper/grill assembly for me?
