Are you sure thats an SS? Looks like an executive V8.. especially cos it's got no SS symbols, no fluted front guards and no SS front bar or bodykit.

I was following your decoding vin topic in the VZ section ... what model did this car end up being coz I know it caused confusion.

It looks to me like its an Executive with the Gen 3 V8 which I believe are used by WA Police so they can be built to order by Factory (something Ive been told doesnt happen ...)

Its rare in NSW for a V8 executive, then again mines ex NSW Police unmarked Acclaim which doesnt compute either because its rare for an Acclaim to have been used especially for unmarked duties so I believe anything really.

Either way looks like a good car, I love the Gen 3!!!

Sure it's not a SV8? Im pretty sure that the series 1 Sv8's were basically exec's with v8...

didnt VZ SV8 share the SS bodykit though? I'm not 100% sure I know the VY SV8 was just exec bodykit with SS running gear (in a nutshell)

Yeah it does look like an executive V8.

Here is one for sale, and to me the price reflects it's not a VZ SS.

i tend to think it's just an sv8 with badges taken off cos the first of the vz's were the same as execs with a wing tehn the second lot came with the same kit as the sv6.

sweet looking car but i think those rims are meant to be copies cos they don't look like clubby's

hehe that makes me feel heaps better seeing the rear of that Execcie with the SS exhaust coz my Acclaim has an SS exhaust which has ben confusing some people, especially at idle as it tends to rumble opposed to the alloytec whine

Also now you mention it I do remember the early VZ SV8's having the Executive bodykit as they followed in the VY SV8 footsteps, then morphing into the SV6 kit shortly after that because I remember people asking why would you buy an SV8 when you could just buy the real thing (SS)

Hey Geoff does your interior look like the one in that car sales ad? Thats the dead givaway ex police as they got the black trim around the radio and ac controls (and black radio) whereas standard cars got anthracite - the greyish colour.

it aint a sv8.

even the first vz sv8 models still had

sv6 style spoiler
sv6 black headlight, not the chrome exec type
ss tail lights(tinted version of the sv6 lights)
no door protector stripe
it would have sv8 badging

and there is proberbly more ive missed
