Just get the chrome surround and leave the rest imo. Don't shave it and put the plate in the bumper.
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
Yeah... sort of wasn't 100% keen on the shaving idea, Ive seen one done and not sure if I liked it or not... it looked different!!
But Holden want like $250 for the crome garnish, and the wreckers dont have any??!!!
And the Calais strip at the bottom of the bumper, where the reflectors sit, $28 for the mould, and $28 for each reflector...
Im going to try ozcarparts, see what they can do..
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
Yeah ill keep an eye out for something cheaper! lol, will let you know...
I sprayed the bootlid today, spoiler and my original number plate garnish...
The shaved rear lion looks smooth as hell!!
But the clear coat wasn't thinned enough when I sprayed it on, and its a little orange peel'y, soo tomorrow, a nice good cut back with some 1500, followed by some cutting compound, then polish.. should have it looking nice and shiney - hopefully!!
I'd Use Finer Than 1500 maybe Like 2000/2500 Or Maybe Some Wet'n'Dry But That Will Be Your Best Bet To Get Rid Of Orange Peel But You'll Never Get Rid Of All Of It
Any Pics Man??

its pretty bad peel, lol! yeah ive got some 2000 aswell, might give it a quick de-nib with 1500? then on to 2000? or just straight to 2000?
Dont have any photos as yet, it was getting dark by the time I packed up all the gear out the front, so I just sat back and had a smoke n a geeze at it...
BUT!! I went to move the spoiler, to get it into the sun a bit more, and dropped the ****er.. while it was still soft... I was like F ** K!!! DAM SHIT ARRRRGGGHHHH!!! So I need to get the gun back out tomorrow again...
Man that sucks. Should look great when done.

Alrighty guys, here a couple of pics I snapped up today, first one the bootlid after a cut back with a 600 wet rub, I originally started with 1500, but after 15mins on one area, it wasnt doing anything, so decided to scrap the idea of saving it, and just spray it again... Gives you a good idea of what it will look like all shiney blue!
Second one, the lip spoiler, with the brakelight, ready to go in, repaired the spoiler where I dropped it, sitting with the number plate garnish - all ready for paint,
And the last one, is the what the weather is like here, soooo no painting today!

Progress report?
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
LOL... Nope not really, the last week or so, it's either been raining, or i've been flat out busy, painting and plastering a neighbours house - just finished yesterday,
Now im building a 'Taj-Mahal' of a dog house for my little staffie puppie... Probly be a day or two more worth of work, lol
I've just bolted it all back together as is, and have been driving around with it like that for the last week, should be doing the door handles soon aswell, after the dog house, and the rear half of my exhaust, straight through pipe,
You can sort of get the idea what its going to look like when its all painted and shiney, lol...
Brake light hooked up, ready to dis-assemble and paint...
I think I need a HSV number plate garnish, its on the list, as is full VZ Senator kit (Im 99% sure Senator, if not VZ Clubby) Shaved door handles, and door mould stip/indent, Fully smooth, And some VZ flutes in the front gaurds,
What do you rekon?? something different? - yet another kitted V6 stocka, lol...

Hey that looks great mate, awesome car btw, really sets it apart from the crowd!
The Blue One
Cheers PaulSV6, its not that out there, but different to a VY acclaim! I like it!
Some pics.. finally got around to starting to work on my car, heres a few pics..
Smooth!
Spray putty... still needs to be wet sanded..
The inside, weld through primer, seam sealer... nice and protected - 'forgot' to do this step on the VH, regretting it now!
Positioning the 'popper'
Nice and snug in the weather strip... not rmuch room in there, no rattles, and doesnt rub on the glass..
What the 'popper' looks like for now, im not too sure what I can do with it - to try and make it look a bit better, but from 2 meters away, you cant even see it, sooo.. not sure,
Now only three more to go!!
And ordered some VZ flutes, they were posted today, from melbourne - hopefully should see them soon!
I think a full respray is on the cards in the near future!!!

Cheers guys, thanks for the comments!
LOL rch-13z, I wasnt going to do much to it, then reading yours and FAT.36L's, and all the other guys 'My Ride' threads on here got me keen again..
It could be a while before it gets done, if the weather keeps up, arrrgghh...
I'll get some pics up for you FAT.36L tomorrow, I just used the bar that went to the door handle - where it goes into the lock, and extended it with a bit of round bar, pretty much straight, just where the stock one had a bend, kinda hard to explain, but will get the pics to show you, I need to pull it out to paint it gloss black anyway, its satin atm, but looks crap with bog dust all over it - sort of like a chalk board? lol
Probly just keep the manual 'poppers' for the moment = lack of funds, lol, but will look into the electronic ones,
What does every one reckon, get rid of the lower strip? where the door molds go/used to go?? fill them in??
Heres a couple of pics for you FAT.36L,
They're a bit suss, but you can sorta see whats going on,
The hole through the rear quater window support, drilled from the top with the glass still in place - very slowly and carefully!! where the weld is it sort of bends away from the camera, for about two inches or so,
You can sort of see the bend there, I put a cable tie on the end of the stock piece - to stop it from pulling upwards and falling down inside the door, it could be a pain when the door trims back on... lol,

She's coming along nicely. It's always good to have some know how rather than taking it to a shop each time and forking over an arm and a leg.
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
Yepp for sure hey, a while ago I rang up a shop, that specialises in these sort of mods, and they wanted like 500-700 bucks, unpainted, lol, this didnt cost me anything so far, just need to look into the paint side of things...
Got my VZ SS Flutes in the mail today..
But they are plastic?? are they all normally plastic? I suppose they would be? what else would they be made out of?!! lol, not really sure what I was expecting!
I Spy With My Little Eye... A little VH, that desperately needs to be worked on :/
Complete with looms, and flashers...
Now I just need to rip off one of my gaurds.... is it illegal to drive around without one on for a day of two?!!

Finally got the flutes. I think the police may consider your car to be unroadworthy without a guard. Pull an all nighter over a w/e and should be all good![]()
