Hi guys,
Recently purchased a VZ Executive seemed to be getting bad fuel economy. Looked up Holden spec’s they say that I should get 11/100km around town... but I only seem to get 18/100km....
Wondering whether this is normal economy or do I need to get it tuned or something…?
Also will putting an exhaust on it improve its economy or make it worse...?
Yep - something wrong with it. Avg 11.0

i get around 14 in my wagon, depends on your driving style. I have a bit of a lead foot, when my wife drives it she gets around 11 or 12, so it is completely subjective. I get around 9 highway driving.
If you are gunning it at every light change 18 wouldnt be out of the question
Are you working the formula correctly? How many kms do you get from a tank? Sure the handbrake isn't on?![]()
I gt around 12 around town and i thought that was bad,
when was it last serviced
I get raound 14 i use semi auto alot haha itz fun n round 10 prob can do better on freeways maybe u shulda put some better fuel like bp unltimate i find dat gud better then shell vpower. Or maybeur fuel system need to be cleaned/serviced. Or a service in GENERAL [sparks/fuel filter/oil.......] hope dat helps abit

ive had mine sitting on 7.4L/100km (dipped to 7.2 on occasions) on the freeway the whole way from canberra, down the federal and hume highway, around town is usually around 12-14L but i do small km's in town, and they are short cold trips,
all depends on your driving, the kind of driving you do, and the environment you drive in, also dont judge the economy by the computer, its not usually accurate until you get a bit of driving behind it to get a long average out of it

yea man hav it checked out, 18L per 100km sounds more like v8 figures to me.
live fast---drive faster
I get around 16lts around town with a very heavy foot. I have always used 98 octane fuel since I bought the car around 17k ago. Its done around 23k and I get the oil and filter changed every six months and use full syntehtic oil. I also have a cat back exhaust which helped me improve economy, it was worst before the exhaust. I have noticed one thing which was bought up in some previous thread that after a few weeks of feeding premium fuel fill the tank with the 91 octane, has helped me with the mileage, try doing this.

Yea i got a CAI and aound town i can get mine dwn to 9.90/100
PON the highway i can get it dwn to 7.80/100
Mine usually sits around the 12-14 Mark doing short trips which is all stop and start traffic. And i don't exactly have a light foot :P
If i baby it around can get it down to around 11
i used to get 9.3-.5L to the 100km mon-fri in and out the city (peak hour), in my full exhaust and tuned vz alloytec ute, and the highest i saw it was 10.7L to the 100km on the weekends due to short fast trips!
dont think a tune would get it any where near 'normal' running conditions.
i would start at maybe looking at the oxy sensors or even the MAF sensor and try cleaning them up.
possible they might be dirty and clogged and giving a wrong reading causing it to use to much fuel.
Wow dude.. there is something seriously wrong.
I usually get 14L/100... and that's driving pretty hard. And the misses usually get's 10's..
How many K's are you getting to a full tank?
I thought i would post this,
(obviously not accurate)

edit: Yes that is a 9 :-D
I just bought a K&N Filter to see if that makes any difference....
Filter did seem a little dirty but I don’t think dirty enough to be causing me bad fuel economy.... but we will see…!
K&N Filter makes it sound great ... no change to fuel economy thou....
im about 13.2-14 per 100 and i have a zorst and extractors with k&n filter, manifold insulators and just have its major service oil,oil filter, fuel filter, trans service, diff, cooling system, brakes, spark plugs and had the t/b and maf cleaned it runs so smooth but my fuel is still bad coz with my mods i rekon i should be around 11-12per 100 max?? what do u rekon tune? or any other problems it might have?
Ouch. And here I was whinging that my olds VY gets better economy (around 9.5ish) as opposed to my average of about 10-11lt/100km with a combination of city and highway!!
