5 speed auto on vz

I took my car to a diff and auto specialist the other day because sometimes just before you come to a complete stop i get a thud knock noise from the back which i thought it was the diff.
When we took it for a test drive he heard the thud and he told me its not the diff its the auto when its changing down to first.
He also told me that it is commom with this 5 speed auto thats the way they are.
I was just wandering if anybody else had this problem and they were told the same thing.
A first i thought it was the diff but i had a new one put in not long ago and he said its not the diff.

Happens all the time on my VZ Adventra.. Was told the same by Holden and a 3rd party as to what you have been told.

I find it worse in stop start traffic than driving and coming to a stop.

Certainly does sound like the diff, but it is the gearbox dropping to first..
