I currently have a stock white VZ SV6 and i'd like to remove the rear wing off the bootlid. I was wondering if it will be easier/cheaper to remove the wing and get the boot holes welded and resprayed. (and sell the wing to cover some of the cost) Or sell my current bootlid inc. wing and buy an exec bootlid already done.
Also, my front bar has some serious scrapping/gutter rash underneath the front and creases on the sides from droping down gutters too fast and hammering the front bar.(id like to point out all from previous owner)
Im wondering the same as above, cheaper to get someone to repair and respray it, or sell cheap and buy a new one.?
Will provide pics of front bar damage to better show if its worth repair or not.
id just get get the bar touched up so little filler to smooth and paint and blend, or if its not obvious, i wouldnt worry about it, i scraped mine good the first time i drove it after fitting my bar... wasnt happy
bootlid its all about prices, most places would probably gill it with filler, quickest and easiest, but depending on how much you want it done proper as such

Front bar scrapping, well lets just say its very bad. Probably more scrapes than untouched paint for sure id say.
I don't think it's possible to repair the front bar, being plastic? You'd be up for a whole new bar.
If it's not at the point where it's visible without putting your head to the pavement, I really wouldn't bother, because they inevitably get scratched sooner or later.
As for the boot, why do you want a SV6 without a spoiler? They don't look right naked![]()

On a stock SV6 i would agree wing would be better, but i plan on doing a few mods and i think that no wing would suit it better.
Also, getting pics as we speak, will update with better ones in the day light, but ill try to get some to give you an idea.

with the boot lid,
straight swap your boot as a whole, to someone that might want a spoiler,
you might get lucky. They might even get some cash your way on top.
i think im gonna try that soon
That looks fairly minor, I'd just hit it up with some touch-up paint if it bothers you.
You could try body filler, but it tends not to work so well on plastic parts, the plastic being quite flexible and the filler being brittle it breaks off quite easily.

Ill will be taking to front bar off today and get some better quality pics. I want to do this to get a better idea for myself as to the extent of the damage, so ill get some pics while im at it.
^^^^ Yep & use some 1000-1200 grit wet/dry sand paper

Thats sounding like the way to go, but is there any way to repair the creases in the sides?
got some better pics today.
included some more pics of some extra damage i had forgot about.

I think you're stressing about nothingThat's really not too bad.
Hit it with some cut + polish, those grass-stain looking streaks will probably just buff out. Smooth it off with some sandpaper, probably start around 200grit and work back to 1200grit. Touch her up with some paint, it'll look good as new![]()

For that peice in the lower corner that ive shown, could it just be super glued back in? doesnt appear to be anything un fixable.
Superglue might be to brittle, I'd try something like Araldite. You could even reinforce with fibreglass from the back if you really wanted.

Buy a another boot lid already in the factory colour, a lot better off than fil;ling holes etc.. you could even do a trade with some one if you dont want to keep your boot with spoiler plus cash your way..
Well ive got some industrial grade super super glue here that i think might just do it
As for bootlid, just got a quote from a repair shop, $361......
Ring some wreckers and see if you can find a white one in good condition...
was also thinking that, but im yet to see a single VZ at my local wreckers. will ring around anyway.
called about 8 wreckers, looking for bootlid, front bar or H/L and T/L. Not a single one even had a VZ.
Got a couple of quotes for the bootlid work, all about $350.
I know it's a dumb question but did you only ask for a VZ bootlid? Vy's are the same - maybe some of the wreckers had VY's in stock.
Regarding the broken bumper, have you thought of doing your own plastic welding? I's very simple and effective, using a soldering iron.
You could use the super glue to tack the loose bit in place, but I doubt it would work for very long because of vibration and flexing of the plastic.
Once you have the glue holding the piece in place, heat up a decent sized soldering iron and carefully work it along the back of the crack, working the plastic from both sides of the crack to melt together. Don't use too much heat in one spot as it will go clean through the bar, and the plastic melts very quickly.
I've repaired a really badly torn section of my father in law's car's bumper, forcing the piece back into its correct position and then heat welding it. Worked a treat and only needed a small amount of filler and sanding, then paint. And it was at the front of the bar, where it could easily be seen prior to repair.
try a car dealer, someone might think yeah why not, better opportunity to sell the car.
Chev badges are an instant fail
reason i only asked for VZ's is because i was chasing the lights off one aswell. May try again and ask about a VY.
