Default 6sp manual about to die?

hey, well just today driving home from work t i noticed my vz ss making a hell loud squeeling noise on the highway just cruising and with further investigations, i have found that the gearbox is making this noise at its worst when it is under load letting the clutch out in gear!!

it's only gotten worse the more i drive it and i'm lost as to wat part in the gearbox this could be and if it is just something came loose or worse.

if anyone has had the same problem or any ideas would be great..cheers.

ps: should i drive it tomorrow?? it's my only way to and from work but i dont want to multiply repair costs $$$$$!!

I would be worried about completely blowing it. Take it to a specialist ASAP. Can you borrow a car or get a lift?

after a alot of searching and shaking and testing the fluid (which was full and clean), i found the culpret at last!!

behind the gearbox connected to the housing there are 2 brackets which hold the dual exhaust pipes and the passenger side bracket was broken in half at the nut and ends were squeaking together ridiculously loudly everytime the gearbox was under load and shaking (u would never suspect it)...barely visable and took alot of torch hunting!!

Looks like the cat converter has taken a knock and snapped the bracket just in front of it.. never lower ur car too much!!
    VERY VERY relieved

haha hell yes lucky...it was getting a bit frustrating there for a while!
but yes, it looks like this bracket is gonna be a common problem with lowered vz manuals. such a flimsy little thing which sounds so bad.
    cheers.

Is it possible to strengthen it, to stop it from rattling?

i just loosened the bolt which holds it and half of the bracket fell off onto the ground. so i tightened it back up on the good half. there is still enough of the bracket left under the bolt to hold it down..

but yeh my brother's welding it up this weekend, along with the same area of the drivers side un-broken one.

i meant to take pics while on hoist.
