I'm finally in the market for a new suspension setup on my SV6. So far I've decided on a set of Coilovers, and I've narrowed it down to either Teins or Pedders XA's. Im looking for some feedback from people that own or have driving with either kits.
The car will only be used on the street, so looking for something with decent handling, yet still comfortable.
We have a set of Tein's on my 180sx, and they are great, but very stiff/harsh for everyday driving.
Another major factor is that I can get the XA's from the local pedders store, but I'll have to post the Tein's from down south.
Cheers in advance for any feedback!
How much are you willing to spend?
i am about to get a set of Bilstein coilovers on mine.

Sick of paying too much for high performance brake pads? Want high performance and cold bite with low rotor wear?

Tein is good as, Dad uses an adjustable set up in he's SSV Ute, nice comfy ride but still stiff enough to handle nicely, of course that is adjustable...

There is no such thing as stupid questions, Only stupid people.
A good spring/shock combo, would give u a good ride!
As asked, what made u decide on Coilovers?
The Blue One
What prices have you got so far if you dont mind me asking? Pm me if you feel like saying. The only set i looked into were about $1800.
Here:
Otomoto - Holden/GM coilovers
But I would prefer something like Tein if I ever went with them.
Pedders retail for $1995, but if your a member of the LS1 forums, you get another 5% off, bringing them down to $1900.
Teins can be found for $2300.
Installation will also depend on your location, but should be at the most $500, with wheel allingments.
let us know which you end up choosing and if your happy with your choice or not as i plan to buy a set of coil overs once the engine work is finished and am interested in any feed back anyone has on all brands of adjustable coilovers. i want a setup up for track racing
Adjustable bilsteins with coilovers ftw. Have em on my GTR and F**K ME they are good. Set of C spanners and presto, lower or riase yourself.......
Me? I'm the guy who does his job ... you must be the other guy ...
Got a quote for $2350, for full installation and allignment on the XA's, So I'll be getting these.
Just need to find the time to get them now. Bloody work has me working nights, so can't get them for a few weeks.
hav u installed them yet?
and were they a full kit or just the fronts???
Booked in for this friday. I cannot wait!! Final price was $2200 including installation, and this was for a full kit.
Pedders Sports Ryder eXtreme XA Adjustable Coil Overs - Pedders Sports Ryder eXtreme XA Coil Over Suspension - Pedders Suspension
Got them installed yesterday and could not be happier.
Height is perfect atm. And can still go alot lower, but it's limited because of my 17's.
Handling has changed dramatically, it corners/handles/slideways great now lol. And they are dead silent, which is great. The tein's in the 180 have a loud knock when going over large bumps, thankfully these don't have this.
I've got them set to 30-30 which is stiff as all shit, you can feel every single bump now, which is getting slightly annoying lol, but still alot of fun. I'll be changing the damper over the weekend, so it's alot more confortable to drive, and for passengers.
If anyone is considering the XA's go for it, you won't be dissapointed. One negative is you can really feel how gutless the v6 is lol, but hopefullt that will change with a few more engine mods.
Will post some pics if anyone wants?
Also the guys at Pedders Townsville were great, really really helpful, and will definetly be going back there.
do post pics, thanks.
30-30 is the most stiff yeah?
Yep, 0 is softest (basically same as factory shocks) and 30 is hardest.
I'll give it a wash tomorrow and take some pics.

Hahah thanks fishman, yeah rims look tiny lol, only 17's.
Will most likely be getting some Speedy Cheetah's sometime, in either 18's or 19's....
they really look at home in the wheel arch haha. good work mate.
p.s. ive never actually seen an SV6 in that colour in the flesh yet..... weird.
is that the lowest they can go, or is that the lowest that ur a happy with?
looks brilliant though.
That's the lowest I want to go with the 17's.. But it can still go quite a few inches lower.
Good job!
Does it roll much in corners now?
Are you happy with the way it corners?
Do you need bigger sway bars now?
I was thinking of buying adjustable sway bars
for mine because it still rolls too much for my liking.
I'm not afraid.
Thanks man.
Nope, it's great around corners now, car stays really level and stiff as shit. Completelty different from the standard suspension.Does it roll much in corners now?
Yes, extremely. It's a completely different car to drive now, I'm really pleased. Are you happy with the way it corners?
Yeah, I will have to when I can. I'll be leaving the XA's on the stiffer settings, so I've been told it'll be a lot better with some thicker sway bars.Do you need bigger sway bars now?
What brand sway bars are you looking at?
