cannot turn key in ignition even when the steering colum isn't locked

Try checking the gearstick or handbrake.

Oh, this happens to me every now and then, but all i do is wiggle it around and back and forth and then it goes.

Hey,this happened to my ss,it is under warranty so i took it to holden and they replaced the barrel.You will eventually not be able to start your car the longer you leave it

Give the key a sharp tap with a hammer, this is only a temporary fix though, as others have stated, you will need to get the barrel swapped out..

ur key barrel is goin man, one day just wont turn at all so get it fixed when ya can
