hey everyone,
Just tonight i was mucking around installing my 4 channel amp. Mainly just running RCAs behind the headunit ect.
Anyway, after this was all done, i turned on the car to hear the stereo, and was greeted with an 'SRS Airbag Fault' and also a 'ABS Fault'
Ive tried searching but found nothing on either fault so im asking here. Will be going to Holden tomorrow arvo if i cant get any help off here before hand. Anyone have any idea what it will cost me to take it to them for a diagnose/fix?
Also, is it ok to drive with the warnings constantly on dash?(got work in the morning!)
did you remove the seat without disconnecting the battery?,
yeah you can drive it, but if you have an accident those system may not operate, make sure all the fuses are ok

What does this do? I didnt think that the seat was anything to do with the battery, but well there you go?
Would this have caused both faults? Just ive had the ABS fault once or twice in the past, but it went away after re starting the car and was never to be seen again, until tonight.
Where/what fuses should i check?
This could actually be a sign that your battery is on it's way out. We had similar problems recently with the SV6 and it was rectified by fitting a new battery (one of the cells was completely dead).

yes, the abs will flash up if the battery is low on charge or on its way out,
you will need a compatible scan tool or tech2 at holden to remove the srs fault

Buy yourself an OBD2 scantool.
They aren't that expensive.
You can clear any faults yourself.
I'm not afraid.
Like I said, if you're getting ABS fault warnings, get your battery checked/changed. More than likely the other fault(s) will clear as well.

Scan gauge ftw!
Money well spent plus you have it in case it happens again.
i got done for speeding today, 4 points. all while on a 1 point good behavior
Considering selling the old girl, so no need for my own scan tool anymore.....
called ultratune about it. They said they werent confident in just clearing the faults, seeing as they were to do with such major components.
Booked into Holden for tomorrow morning, standard fee of $115.50 for a fault diagnosis and clear, for anyone who was wondering. Also getting them to check the battery.
just got back from Holden.
Turns out my battery is dead, said its dropping to 7.5 volts, is that very bad? Got the SRS airbag and ABS faults cleared finally, thats all im going to say. in a sentence, more ****ing around, and dumb shits there than you could possibly imagine, but atlest its cleared.
Yup, in that case your dying battery was the cause of the fault coding.

ive sourced a battery myself for cheaper than what holden wanted so they said they couldnt clear the SVS code until i dont the battery.
Will the warning clear itself, once it sees the new battery is fine, or do i still need to get it cleared by a pro?
Ive replaced the battery as it was dead anyway.
But the SVS fault remains. Anyone with their own scan tool looking for a bit of dosh? was quoted $30-$40 from ultratune?

You can pay more if you want 'live data' or o2 diagnostics etc.
But this one should work with VZ's and up.
And you could probably use it with your next car.
Or make a little money on the side like Andyman!

An even cheaper one!

I read through that advertisement and went a bit deeper into it. VY's don't have full diagnostics enabled so the tool is of limited use. It would be fine for my son's VZ, but he's about to sell it.
I guess Tech 2 is the only solution to pre-VZ's to enable full diagnostics, not just the engine.
BUMPPP
As i mentioned in another thread, ive just recently got a 'Check Oil' warning on the dash.(started the day AFTER taking it to holden to get 2-3 other faults cleared)
Anyway, ive replaced the engine oil and oil filter, but im still getting this warning. Is this another one that requires a tech2 of some sort to clear, or what else should i check?
Rodbol
You should be able to clear that one using the trip computer keys the same as the service interval messages.
My son's Acclaim had its 165k service warning, oil service warning and the SVS messages, one after the other when you started up. I cleared the 165k and oil service warnings using the mode/set/arrow keys.
Dead set, with all these bloody messages the car has built in, I'm wondering if it's got one to remind me to change me undies each day.
Anyone in Brisbane with a scan tool want a bit of cash for a few mins(im guessing) of work?
Ultratune actually want $60, and Holden well who knows, im guessing another $115 as its another set of codes to clear. Even if Holden was cheap enough, i dont want to take it there out of principal.
So yeah, anyone in Brisbane can do it cheaper than ultratune?

P.S. Are there any Gregorys type workshop books available at supercheap ect? i checked my local store and they had nothing.
ok ive given up on trying to find out whats wrong and how to fix it, also no one in brisbane appears to have a scan tool, and willing to sell their services.
So i have rung various places such as Holden(forget it) Ultratune, Midas. Any other places that have the required scan tool to check this out for me? I doubt the local mechanic would have a tech2 ect so im after places such as the ones previously mentioned.(e.g. bigger name mechanics)
