Default Header's plus exhaust for a VZ.

Planning to get an aftermarket headers/exhaust for my VZ Acclaim.

Going for better sound rather than preformance.

I was planning on going Lukey as a friend had a Lukey bolt on sports system with headers, fitted to his VY a few years back and it sounds pretty nice.

So I borrowed the Lukey cataloge from work to have a thumb through and I have found that Lukey dont produce any kind of preformance exhaust for the 3.6 Alloytec, all they make is a replacement standard system.

So does anybody else produce anything like what Im looking for???

Try Best Mufflers the Muffler and Exhaust Specialists. This site has most makes of aftermarket, what systems and and gives an idea of price. And no Lukey on this site doesn't have a system for the Alloytec. Found it when I was googling to get an idea of prices between brands.

Ton's of good information in the VZ questions thread cheer's.

In my case what would be the best option, I'm looking to get a better note out of it not interested in any real gains in power.

As for the 2 cat's that are on there now can you re-use them with headers or is it best to go for the hi-flow job's???

Stupid question but a mate also has VZ Acclaim and his has Alloytec badges on the fenders and a plastic running strip down the side, mine has no badges and a small channel down the side what gives???

Lol it's an ex-government car so it's kinda odd they de-badged it.

Your exhaust setup sounds perfect too, Pacemaker was my second choice if Lukey wasn't available, I'll probably go for a bolt on system with the rest of it.

    Cheer's.

iv heard a few stories about aftermarket exhausts for VZ's.. something about the alloytec engine affecting the noise and making it sound like a sewing machine..

if anyone knows something, would appreciate if they could let me know as i am thinking of fitting one to my ute..

the alloytec doesn't have the nicest note so less is more hence fit largish body mufflers if going straight through design to keep the noise under controll otherwise they get barky and sound aweful.

Mate, remember that a VY's and a VZ's engines are different. So with the same system they wouldn't sound the same.

I can do a twin 2 1/4" into a single 3" with twin pipe exit for $480 shipped. It's not too loud but it has a decent increase right across the range, even better up top.

Hi abba, group discount? I'm still after an exhaust.

And what brand is it? Beter quality than the 300 bucket I'm looking at? Ie supacat?

It is a Manta. Not even in the same class. And yes, I could organise a group discount. Probably do a bit off if I could get maybe 4 orders? My supplier won't knock any off for 2.

    Long time coming update here.

In the end I just went for a single Lukey 2.5 inch cat back bolt on, realized for my needs I didn't need a full system.

Bolted in on in about half an hour, attached the stainless tip with stainless steel rivets, couldn't be bothered welding it.

Sounds nice enough, make enough noise, but still isn't going to warrant a second look from the police.
