hi
so i turn on my VZ SV6 2004 this morning, and bang! SAFE MODE alert, reduced performance alert came on.
i was like?????
and traction control was off and wouldn't turn on etc..
So i turned it off and back on and the error went away, drove all day, no issues whatsoever so I said fair enough.
To be safe, I called the dealer and got it booked in for Wednesday.
As i have heard stories about how dealers do 'services' and 'mechanical repairs' I wanted to make sure, so i dropped to the local Ultra Tune workshop and they plugged it into the diagnostics computer for $25.
the following 4 errors came up:
P2088 - intake camshaft POS control solenoid circuit low
P0261 - cylinder 1 injection circuit low
P0264 - cylinder 2 injection circuit low
P0458 - Evaporative emissions control [can't understand my handwritting bit taken off] solenoid circuit low voltage.
now, the problem is that, they cannot tell when this error codes came up because there is no date stamp (stupid thing, considering it is a LOG)
So they cannot tell me if the errors are new or been in there prior to the car purchase.
Anyways, it sounds to me like the battery is low, but it is reading near 14V, and i am told the solenoid typically dies around 130,000 km's, The car is on 126,000km.
I asked the ultra tune tech not to reset them, that way Holden can see them etc..
Ultra tune could not tell me what the problem was without looking into it further.
The book says it is an issue with the throttle control system when the safe mode is on.
I have 2 years free service and 3 years warranty with the car, so leaving it to Holden to do it.
So, has anyone have an idea or has anyone had that happen to them?
I checked other posts, no info there.
p.s: apparently no more loan cars, while your car is getting checked/serviced. They have a rent-a-car service instead now. $25 for an astra up to $65 for a ute per day. I will ask more info when i go there and post it up.
Did you wash the engine by any chance?
Sounds like it could be a wiring fault somewhere. Have you done anything to the car which may have inadvertently damaged the engine wiring loom?DTC P0261, P0264
ECM detects a short to ground fault in the control circuit of a fuel injector
DTC P0458
The ECM detects the voltage on the EVAP solenoid control circuit is less than 2.6 V when the solenoid is commanded
off.
DTC P2088
The ECM detects a short to ground fault condition in a CMP solenoid control circuit

(have had the car for 2-3 weeks or so)
thanks for the codes referral guide thing
could have stretched timing chains cos that sets off the camshaft sensor codes and reduced performance mode...
late vz's and early VE's had the faulty chains that stretch
I am not sure.
I didn't check the VIN number etc..
I have to drop it off in 8 hours, we'll see what happens
i should really got to bed lol
thanks for the help so far.
