replacing shocks

i own a 2005 vz calais with 85000 kays on it,most of that has been 110 kmh highway driving,im wondering what the tell tale signs are 4 replacing the shocks, suspension,wheel bearings all that kind of stuff,does the car sag if a shock has gone? so yeah any help would be great

noise (thump or knocking sound which i had in the front of mine), not always but legthend braking distance/shudder under braking (shudder can also be warped or stuff discs though) or if they are really buggerd when you go over a big enough bump the arse hits the bump stops

push down on the quarer panel and watch if the car bounces up and down more than once when you left go... usually shocks should be replaced every 60,000 or 3 years to be in good working order
