Ok, i know there are a lot of gauge threads on the forums but i am yet to find the answer to my problem. I will include some pics to illistrate my problem.
I have got my hands on a set of VZ gauges and today i started to install them, the problem i have is when i remove the storage bin on the top of the dash there is nothing to clip the gauges into.
Is there a part that goes under the gauge pod and screws in where the storage bin was? if so does anyone have the part number?
I have seen instances where people have removed the lid of the storage bin and modifided it along with the gauge holder to make it fit, but i don't like this idea.
For anyone else that has done this install before could you please advise me on how you installed them.
Thankyou, Rob.
I jiust got this done a few days ago just got it wired up only. Umm wit the fitting it mite be a hsv part? i just shoved mine in althooough not the best lookin but i dun mind itz looks awesome still. I have seen threads were they modified the storage compartment to make the gagues fit. but yes i aslo would like to know if there is a parrt no. or something to make it sit flush .

Yes there is a spacer required for the gauges to sit flush with the rest of the dash & unfortunately i don't know the p/n.
Just call Holden & tell em what your after. Thats your best bet!

New set of gauges and pod on Ebay but no spacer
I'm not aware of any sets that were made to fit the storage conpartment models but if you do any good with holden let us know, i'd be interested then myself.
Hey guys just brought an 07 model Thunder myself and have the sme problem. Went to holden and apparently there is no spacer. So i am going to try and mould them in to the console lid. Or buy a standard surround. Will post pics of finished product. Cheers
Gauges in no worries you just need to pull the console apart and remove the lid and modify the pod clips a bit all sits flat now, cheering
lol thats all fail for you bud. never seen one without some kind of supports in there. I got a 06 VZ V6, and I got a VY Guage Pod holder for there (not knowing it was for a VY particuarly) and while my stock cover clips in, the guage pod needed screwing in............ lol no screw holes for me but luckily they lined up with plastic the supports that are on mine, drilled 4 small holes and presto.
IN YOUR CASE:
The only thing I could really suggest that seems practical. on the peice you pulled out the frame. You have some room to work with there.
Get some L peices, 4 of...... drill 4 small holes and screw those in. That'll create the raised support holding side of things..... depending on the screws you use etc, you may be able to just slide it in and there be a snug fit, otherside you'll need some sort of additional 2 fork kinda clamps it slides into when it comes down to sit on the supports.
Thats my only guess..... otherwise, foam, duck tape![]()
