Yer the guys at Alberts car audio told my mate to chop the end of the rca cables and connect them to the speaker output wires coming out of the wiring harness, we got the subs working but its hell shit like one of the speakers stops working and yer sounds shit...

They also said this is the easyiest way cos you dont need pre outs....

lol thats asking for trouble, you need something with a 5v output, that wont cut it, and as you said sounds like shit,

id also suspect that would be a better idea if you were using high level inputs, i.e using the speaker wires straight into the amp in the high input......

Using the high level (speaker) outputs from the headunit means you get some distortion introduced by the headunit's relatively crappy internal amplifier. Phreddy's mod gets the output from before the amplifier stage, so you get a clean signal.

If you are using high level outputs you should connect them to the high level inputs of your amp if it has them, or use a high to low level converter. Connecting the RCA leads directly to the high level outputs is a bad idea because the amplifier is designed to drive a 4ohm speaker, and the amp isn't a 4 ohm load.

If you chose to use high level, then you can get your headunit programmed to run 4 channels like in the sedan/wagon and use the rear channels to run your amp and the front channels to run your door speakers

We tried the rear speaker wires and it didnt work but now i know...

Mate went to the audio shop today and they set it up the exact same way we were throught the speaker wire and it works like a charm just played with the amp settings and used different wires.

I told my mate that I can get hold of phreddy and get shit done but he wanted it done straight away haha.
