Hi Guys,
Not sure if any of you could help me, but I've noticed my rpm fluctuate when im accelerating through second gear. It drops off slightly for a few seconds then picks up where it left off...
In the video I'm applying even acceleration through second gear... anywho take a look at the video below and let me know what you think:
YouTube -Uneven acceleration in SV6
...
yeh mine does the same mate, there was a post on here a while ago, same thing, but only on the 5 speed box, seems to be something to do with torque management and the 5 speed box :S
my executive does it and it has a 4 speed box...
sorry i should have said earlier, this is on the 5speed auto box
got it with mine too and i got a SV6 with 5 speed auto. auto scheduled to get fliud replaced in 15,000km time. but i replaced the whole accelerator assembly with a HBD alloy pedal version and the problem has virtually gone away.see with it being fly by wire the sensor is a variable resistor and like any variable resistor if left on the same spot to long it will leave a carbon/burn deposit and that will cause the flucuation.
How much did the pedals set you back?
I posted with this exact same problem a few months ago!!! I took it to holden and they told me i needed a new gearbox lol. I told them to get stuffed. I think it a electronic throttle control problem. Just give it a little more gas and it wont do it.
hi torana355,
I remember you posting that thread and was following it closely, but thought it might have been a slightly different problem to the one I was having!
baracuda let us know about those pedals! were they hard to insall?
anyone else come up with a different solution to this problem?
the pedal i got from NVU.(click on link below)
NVU, Genuine Holden parts to suit Holden Commodore VR,VS,VT,VX,VY,VZ,Monaro,Statesman,Utes and HSV
the other pedals (brake and clutch, footrest) i got from AMCAP (those who are in WA) otherwise Holden be the go.
the accelerator pedal was not to hard to swap it just undo the top 2 bolts and it will slide out from the bottom retainer slide(ensure u slide it upwards) then remove the plug.take note plug got a clip on it u got to push in.now the bolt top left(brake side) is easy 10mm socket on small ratchet.but the other one you got to "feel your way" i ended up using a small 10mm ring spanner to undo it.like you got heaps of room but it all sits behind the BCM and fuse panel and didnt feel like ripping that out.
all up the whole job took a hour
cost under $200
and no need to convert a V8 pedal for V6![]()
Awesome, i'll definetly look into this.
Thanks for the write up mate, much appreciated! I'm sure NVU will have at least 3 emails about this in the morning
Just one question though, when you say the problem has virtually gone away - does it still happen slightly at all? Did you find it made any other impact?
Cheers
i think the new pedal has got a slightly stiffer spring and seeing the pedal is straight rather then curved on top, compared to the V6 one. i have noticed i rev slightly higher and quicker (due to diffrent foot position on pedal)and no longer hit that spot.even when i try to accelrate real slow i cant seem to re-occur the problem= fixxed to me.
the alloytech 190 has got variable air intake where it switches between cruise and power.
that would be me next port of call if it re-occured.coud have dirt build up?just coz u got an airfilter dont mean it traps all the dust.
any other impact?....yes!!! it improves the look in the footwell heaps and car looks more sportier and me mates love it
sounds good mate, thanks again Im sure a few of us will invest in those pedals
hey mate i had the same problem with my sv6, when accelerating under load the car starts missing. or when crusing then trying to speed up this happens. the car starts missing lightly. Do this and let me know if the car starts missfiring. Put the car in D (drive) pull the hand break up, press on the breaks hard and the press on the accelerator to reach 5000 RPM. If the car starts missfiring the problem is from one of your coil packs. try this and let me know of the out come send me a private message or some thing, then i'll let you know how to find out wich coil pack it is.
torque converter lockup??
thats what the dealer dose to find the problem , its the coil
why wouldnt you just drive it to 5000 rpm... or as a proper workshop would do... stick in on the dyno..
the foreman of holden did this while i was watchin and the problem was one of the coil packs was faulty, replaced right there and then and the problem gone,
I've had a car that was misfiring before, and the problem doesn't really feel like that. Revs fine through all other gears under all other loads... so I don't think thats the problem unfortunatley.
Just out of interest, how much did a new coil pack set you back?
Cheers.
