it should function on any car that it is installed on but being electronic and all the rest of it, I'm pretty sure it will function on a VZ. Make sure you replace the old alarm so the immobilisor doesn't clash with the new alarm.

Get it done professionally either way. My alarm has it but a few guys won't touch it because if they're not installed properly you can end up with all sorts of problems/ fires etc.

In some Aust'n States it is illegal to leave a vehicle unattended with engine running. Beats me why you would want a remote starter for your vehicle.

He might be a fire fighter, and quickly needs to race off to save a burning family.. And perhaps he doesn't wanna blow his engine by thrashing a cold engine?

    lolol.

From what i could understand about the laws, you can only have a push button start, not a remote start. Anything that starts the car (or leaves it running) after you leave it is illegal.

Just another stupid law. 99% of people who have it would also have it setup to stay locked (ie cars with a boost controller, they'd lock the car and let it turn off by itself)

The main reason I was going to use my remote start was to start the car 5 minutes before I left work, to let the airconditioning heat up/cool down the interior of the car.

Windows do the same job most of the time though so it's not a huge problem.

Same with turbo timers, just take the 5 minutes of the drive easy.

thats the reason why i want the remote start. as i start early in the morning for work, i can start the car when i wake up, n by the time i get to it the engines ready to go. instead of pushing it to drive while its cold. i spoke to autobarn in sydney, no questions asked and no hassles they said theyll throw it all in, level 4 alarms with remote start are legal except on manual cars from what they told me.
    cheers guys

that sound about right, as most people said, get the pros to do it, the fire usually start by the starter motor continually running if its wired wrong. As you probably know, the car will only go once the key is inserted and turned to on. If anyone else jumps in, it will switch off as soon as they hit the brake to take it out of gear. Whats it costing you?

there charging 250 to install the alarm, wire the remote starter, and disimbobolise the stock holden key so it works with the remote start. n there providing paper work as well. so its fair enough, money well spent.

Warming up the engine isn't anymore effective than taking it easy for the first few minutes of the trip on newer cars with good oil. In fact i think many car co's even recommend not to idle unnecessarily. By taking it easy i don't mean grannying it, it just means you aren't going to gun it to 6krpm out of the driveway.

I certainly believe you, but i can get my 2 tonne brick to 100 without pissing anyone off without the revs getting high enough to stuff the engine. If it's cold i think you'll find it only revs a little higher for 10-15 seconds on starting anyway. I'm just not convinced it'll do your car any good. Perhaps even have a negative effect.

I can't argue that the novelty of it would be fun, but the necessity... none..
