Default rattel noise, its the shocks

hi i have a 2004 SV6, i have noticed a rattle noise from the back of the car. it sounds like a bell. well i then jacked the car up to see where it was coming from, i found out that it is the shock absorbers. the outer skin of the shock absorbers is loose and it keeps wabbelling around and coming in contact with the second half, (the thinner part) of the shock absorbers. dose any one know of a fix for this

The shield is spot welded to the shaft at the top. The weld has broken and now the shield rattles.

How many k's has the car done? Over 40 000 and they are basically stuffed anyway. You may think they are OK, but when replaced it will drive like a new car.

Yep thats a sure sign they are rooted, no fix just replace, it's not expensive.
