Default 06 VZ Exec - Help hooking up SV6 Spotlights/Foglights

    Hey Guys,

    Quick question.

Got a 06 VZ Exec, just fitted the SV6 bodykit to it....... the front spotlights are sporting H3 globes at 55w globes............ my low beam (standard lights) are also 55w......

does that mean i can just rig them to the normal ligts. i know there's 3 wires.......... i assume ones negative, positive and maybe the other one is for high beam?

HELP I dont really wish to have them rigged to high-beam, I'm sure SV6's have them on by default.........

    PS. Any idea on wiring?

They should be wired to the parkers, i imagine youve bought a VZ HL switch with foglight option.

Basically the foggies should only come on when the parkers are on.

You can them directly if you want (OEM 20A fuse).
But are they driving lights or fog lights?
The former will blind oncoming traffic.
The latter should only be used during poor weather (But they look good!).
To rig them to low beam connect,
    Positive wire left, White/Blue
    Positive wire right, White /black
    Negative wire both, Tan.
    I'm not afraid.

if what you want to do is join the foggies straight to the headlight, i wouldnt recomend it,

    you will either,

    1. blow fuses
    2. melt wiring
    3. have poor light output from voltage drop

or all the the above at once

the factory wiring is only good for oem fitment, it will fail if overloaded from other accessory being added unless its signal wires to relays

I was thinking of joining them to the parking lights as there's only two wires and I run hi-output LED's off those which use f-all power........... plus there's only two wires compared to the main headlight itself which has three.

I have all aftermarket bulbs........... phillips 55w basically apart from my parker light led's.

I spoke to two guys today, they said it's fine for my to run the spot lights with my normal lights so long as they arnt brighter then the stock headlights rating which is 55w.... if u run like 100w it's reserved for highbeam etc....

So to answer my question, rigging my spotties which are 55w artic blue globes into my parkers should be fine............. if it's not it'll just melt the cable, blow a fuse or dim the lights slightly?..

Park lamp fuse is 10 amp.
Your lights alone draw just over 9 amps!
Use headlight loom or a relay to battery.
OEM fogs are wired to each fused 20A
    feed from headlights.
    I'm not afraid.

rodbol what your suggesting is the same.

either headlights which run 55w globes running 20a fuses each............ or what park lights which are 5w I think off hand running 10a fuses.....

somehow i think ultimately the park lights would have more power available no? .......55w 20amp, 5w 10amp.

Either way the park lights ultimately still come down the headlamp loom wiring setup.

I ended up buying a spotlight wiring kit............... which i put the switch inside on the center console n rigged into the parking lights as well........... works quite well. took all ur advice, i didn't think rigging it directly into either the parking or the standard headlamps was a good idea........ so yeh, relay, fuse, wiring n switch. way to go.

good you rigged it up the right way,

ill give one tip for new cars,

dont draw power off circuits, only use the cars wiring for signals to relays,

as i said earlier, the wiring in the car is only designed to handle the current used by the item running off it, this is so if say the climate control module has a wire break loose and is only just brushing against another component, even if it isnt a dead short, it may be just enough to blow the fuse to indicate an error

if u did that you'd have to wire everything to the battery which would be silly

DON'T drive around with the fog/driving lights on unless during periods of reduced visibility. You will get piched for it and the expiation is about $140.00 furthermore it's totally inconsiderate of other road users to do so and could cause someone to loose their night vision (particularly older drivers) and collide with other road user etc. Think about it !!!
