Hey all,
Re 05 VZ calais LS1 auto with about 75k on it
Not sure if anyone else gets this problem,
Basically i go down the m2 each day, get off at the exit and sit at the lights. When i then go to take off the car feels like there are teeth missing on a gear somewhere gear - or something similar. its hard to describe - But it clunks, or jerks along for 4 or 5 seconds and then is fine. It feels like its coming from the gearbox or diff area.
The car is perfect every other time so i know it isn't like teeth missing.
It does it without fail after coming to a stop after highway or freeway driving and then taking off again.
Could it perhaps be a sensor or something that needs re setting?
Thanks for any help!
cheers
Sounds like a diff problem, try new oil first.
sounds like the CV joint in the back, i just had mine replaced. with the windows up, it sounded like the engine had a bad thumping knock, but windows down the noise was definitely coming from the back. its worse under acceleration cos its loading the car up (well down)
Sounds like the common diff cluck issue. I replaced the oil in mine and it went away for a short while but came back again. Im looking into getting a Kaaz LSD with 3.7 gears, the kaaz diff center is far superior to the standard Holden crap.
hey mate...
i had exactly the same prob with the bt1 lsd in my 06 executive...
and i took it back to holden and they chucked multiple diff chatter kits thru it with no success...
they then pulled the diff apart and told me it was worn so they have ordered me a new one under warranty...
but yeh they told me that ther was no complete fix other than a new diff aye... hope this helps :?...
Thanks for all the replies. I'll had to hunter holden next week and see what they say
I thought it may be diff related, but thought it was strange how the clunk never happens with stopping and starting in city driving, only after a long drive.
cheers
Hi we had our VZ SS 05 ute serviced at our local servo he changed the diff oil and it developed a clunk after long trip. asked Holden dealer about problem, found out it had to have a 100ml bottle of special oil for LSD in it,purchased from holden dealer about 30bucks.Solved the problem straight away.
yeh try the oil it should fix it, and make sure its not from the drive shaft either.
yeh i had that ls treatment oil put in it worked for a while but the problem started a few weeks later again.
hey again,
Got the car back from hunter holden. They gave quite reasonable service actually.
As some people here mentioned they said they have put that additive in the diff, and to leave it and see if the problem persists and take it back if it does. They also replaced some rear suspension bushes.
hopefully the problem stays away for a while. Must be a fairly common problem though if they have developed an additive to try to solve it
cheers
probably shiting itself the way you open it up on the highway! lol
na, jokes. probs a diff prob
