06 VZ Exec custom headers/cats - Another Exhaust Query
2006 VZ Exec - Tuned.
History spent too much $$$ on exhaust messing around already. Never found the perfect sound. I've been down many roads, diff resonators, mufflers.........
1. Had it perfect with a stock headers/cats with a twin 2" system to a single straight thru muffler which went to a 2.75" single line out to a hotdog at rear with 4" tip.
** Where it got messed up, tuning (unlocking my cylinders, making extra power) and putting on Pacemaker Headers and Hi-Flow cats (150cell) ........ mostly the cats.
PRESENT: Pacemaker headers, 150cell hiflows, two straight thru glass packed resonators directly after the hiflows (too close to the transmission support bracket) ......... down the standard 2" lines -H Pipe- to my central straight thru muffler, out the 2.75" line to a resonator with my 4" tip.
Tried X-Force Twin 2.5" setup, WAY too loud, good boost in performance, but alot louder then v8's..... thats the reason I got the the front resonators added to try n quiten it which was unsuccessful, which then I bolted my old cat back system from the middle of the car back on (the single central muffler etc).
Tried straight thru off my central muffler, too loud.........

My question is about my possible plan which is to:
From the cats down............. rip the front resonators out (before the center join) ......... after the center join go 2.25" X or H pipe peice into two middle straight thru glass packed resonators to a twin in/out 2.25" magnaflow muffler with 3" out with 4" tip.
Want idea's. People talk about remus systems, supercat ........ all these cat back bolt on that dont work in my car.
Approximate output of car is about 140-150kw pushing bout 320-360nm torque.
** To cut a super long story short, I got a TJ Magna which again I messed around alot on but eventually found perfection in a middle resonator and rear magnaflow with 4" tip. running 2.5" single all the way down. (no custom headers or cats mind u)
I would like some solid advice from those who have 'messed' with alloytechs and headers/cats etc.
I'm really pushing the magnaflow idea............. it seems to be the "best" exhaust in the sense it just roughens up the exhaust pulses more then anything while keeping quiet.
I dont want loud, mine is pretty darn quiet now........ tis much like a puffing machine ....... kinda like a v8 growl with air lol ...... i've been told it's a bit like a m3 sound......... very subtle.
I was also thinking even just removing the front resonators and wacking a magnaflow muffler on the back (2.75" in with twin 2" out) ......... idea's? I'm a brisbanite QLD.
PS. Stock VZ 5.7LTR exhaust also idea.

im in brizy, maybe we can meet up so you can hear mine
and im runing the ss gen3 system less the rear muffler, im not runing headers, but it could only get better imo
what cats you run? I found with my headers I should of got the matching 200cell hi flows which are the same brand but I didn't.......... my 150 cell cats are the issue really. dont want to fork out to replace them

why dont you try the standard cat monaro, not much flow difference when 'widened' they do a great job and dont get the whiney sound that most cats put off in the alloytec
