    Cool VZ Auto Changeover

    G'day Guys
Anyone change out the 4L60 four-speed automatic on the alloytec
    for the 5L40 five-speed automatic

as I'm planning a diff upgrade I thought the 5L40 might be a better option

Diff upgrade would be easier. If you change the auto (if you actually can without issue) ......... in theory your engine tune would have to be changed to suit............ as your optimal torque, open throttle ve tables ......... basically everythings set to work around 4 gears..... so the sv6's for example with 5 speed gearboxes are tuned much differently then the 4 speeds.

Diff quickest solution on this one.

changing the diff will then throw out the tune and gbox as well thinking its doin a speed when its not. if youve got the money go both with a tune or just the 5 spd with tune, my 2c

tis true, diff will throw out the gearbox............. but it's all of 1 setting to change that in the ecu.......... wouldn't cost much to have eagers adjust it. the guys who do diffs might even be able to

4sp auto to 6sp manual is possible,

4sp to 5sp auto is possible if you are prepared to remove the entire dash board to replace the main dash harness,

differance is in the wiring at the plug, the 5sp uses security lock connectors and extra wiring, 4sp dosnt,

just stick some 3.7's if you do fair bit of freeway driving, use 3.9's if you dont,

get a vcm tune to suite, you wont be dissapoiinted
