Hey guys can you give me your opinions on a VZ calais i am looking at.
i know a bloke and said he would sell his calais to me for 15,500
Its done 150,000kms and he brought it at 120,000kms as an ex government car.
Would this be a good deal or are the Km's to high?
and whats the go with government cars? are they good second hand?
Also it has 20" rims, lowered on superlows and tinted windows
Cheers
Just did a quick check of carsales.. Avg price for a VZ Calais with 150k is about $17 500.
Price is pretty decent with those extra's, but I personally wouldn't buy such a new car with so many K's.
If you do go ahead, get it thoroughly checked over.
the high kms are coz its a gov car, and generally speaking their driven very very sensibly adn theyre also generally very well maintained because the owner wouldnt have had to pay for anything, it would have all been on a fleet card or the like.
Still a bit sus about the price... especially that someone else has owned it since and has obviously done some mods to it... as mentioned above, get it checked out.. and if all is fine DEFINATLY buy it![]()
I know I got mine for a great price in April this year. I paid $15,000 and it had 88,000kms on the clock. I got it from a car yard in Perth. Its in fantastic condition and drives perfectly. Cars sometimes seem to be more expensive in WA than in others states. Whether or not this is true, I would keep looking for a lower km vehicle.
About a month after I got mine, I went looking to see what other VZ Calais' were around, and there was a private sale on carsales with exactly the same car as mine except with 66,000kms going for $19,500. This is back a few months.
I would keep looking and I would try to get a little bit lower km one. But in the end its up to you. I know you will love the VZ Calais. They are fantastic to drive. Picture of mine below;

Mine was an ex gov car and it only had 48000kms on the dash.
Jesus is my Lord and Saviour
VZ Calais
I would NEVER buy an ex government car as I know what they have been through and what I put I put mine through daily.
i bought mine ex gov with 38 000 on the clock mine was an airport pollie pusher thou
Looks nice. But I would be buying a stock one with lower km's for the money and then doing it up to your specifications down the track. Modifications like big rims and lowering can be bought easily, but once you have the car, you can't change to high km's on the engine. Even though these engines should do quite alot of km's, the lower the better in my opinion rather than buying because of big rims and lowering.
Looks sweet, I'd buy it.. Those rims and springs will cost $3000+
Just make sure you get it thoroughly checked over..
If you can hold out till november mate im selling mine for $16,500. Its a black Nov 2005 model. Will have 105,000k's on the clock. Full service history seviced my holden. Will have new tyres on it its in as new cond.
pretty cheap. but like a person has previously stated, have a good look at it. etc. and pay attention to it when you take it for a drive. most people who are keen to go with after market wheels/tints and lowering would be in the same mind frame to be a lil heavy footed sometimes lol
