Hey im going to buy these extractors... just wondering if there are the right size and if anyone else has them on there car? improvments with sound? and performace?
Thanks
which extractors?
these extractors!!!!!!!! (holds up a set of extractors made out of Hungry Jacks straws)...lol
Hannibal throw us a friggin bone... whats the make?diameter of the pipes?etc..etc..
lmao so sorry guys was ment to link to this sorry for the confusion!

yes they are the right one's they clearly state VZ alloytec. but that price isn't that great. you should be able to get them supplied and fitted for only $100 more then that.
yea i called around places are asking 700+ so yea but im looking to get ecotec extractors for my bros VY off him and am getting them cheaper shipped free so i might end up getting them so ill see! thanks
if you in sydney CHE fitted my pacies for $650 fitted.
if you get headers you have to replace your cats just so you know.......... otherwise first speed bump just like i worked out, your standard cats will hit n pretty much be stuffed.
dunno bout performance gains ........ i'd say it probably does give you a gain, depends on the rest of the exhaust i think at the end of the day.........

oh btw you cant really leave your standard cats on there............ i made that mistake and did a dyno run............. it killed my dyno figure as it overheated my cats causing a COT condition = mass fueling = doesn't equal power.
Problem is you get hi-flowing headers but then have a restriction of your standard cats......... all you get is more pressure basically on the headers........... more heat at the cats.
Always best to change headers (extractors)/cats together at the same time so I learned.

i thought that COT was a calculated figure? the engine just estimates the cat temp based on engine load. so hi flow cats would make no difference as the ecu would still engage cot after a certain amount of runs?
my car has hi flow cats and still goes into COT after 2-3 runs.
people who change cats have sensor and engine light problems. standards cats are good high flowing that dont need to be changed unless going for a charger or turbo. waste of money
Hey Monaro, how do you know when there is a COT condition?
i think you'll only get the check engine light if you car is an 06 model? if it has the 4 oxy sensors.
you can tell cot if you afr goes hell rich. mine was going down to nearly 10:1 hovering around 10.5:1
Ohh OK. Well I have never had that check engine light come up. How are you checking your afs's?
has anyone ever had there extractor's snap? mine snapped on the left side on all 3 welds and only 4000 Kay's old [pacemakers] i have been told the reason that happened was the rubber bracket at the rear of the exhaust wasn't fitted [when i upgraded the exhaust also 4000 kay's ago] and put to much strain on the extractors? anyone had this done?
just a heads up for u guys thought u should know as the exhaust fitter never heard of it before and never had the manufacturer
pft.... and a big PFT at that... yea your right buddy, standard cats are good if you have "standard headers" .......... putting high flowing headers on with standard cats = fail.
COT is a calculated condition by the ECU, there is much speculation around if it's a mix of settings or SENSOR READ OUTS.....
You dont need much of a brain to figure out highflowing headers meeting standard cats = restriction = heat....... = higher chance of COT. After all really COT would more then likely be from O2 sensors and temp sensors around the engine.
As for engine lights......... disable the stupid message. "If you have VCM Suite". If you go headers, you go cats, if you go cats, you do your cat back........... otherwise you go backwards, just do cat back.
PS. COT is something easy to generally get around anyway.......... thru tuning. My first dyno was a disaster due to standard cats with pacemaker headers....... COT kicked in first go.

bigdaddy, what is your current dyno figures? got a chart, and what mods have you done to your car?

pacies dont really flow any better, they are just tuned length runners, so with the standard manifolds, the exhaust pulses may hit each other and cause waves in the exhaust, pacies use seperate pipes at different length to merge the pulse into one, so they essentially dont hit each other and keep the exhaust flowing at a consistant speed
