    Default abs fault?

ok well just finished work after a long day and was walking out to the carpark..admiring my car shining in the afternoon sun thinking wow thats sexy haha..and i jump in take the window visor down and start it up and as i shut my door the car beeps at me..what the hell..

look down at the screen and its got an abs fault flashing up at me??..so wondering if i need to get to holden ASAP, and also with an abs fault what are the major causes for it saying that?. I have had the hpx police pads in it for about 3-4 months dont think they would cause an abs fault and the fluid is all full so anyone got any ideas and solutions?

    Thanks James

i always randomly get that message on mine n ive taken my vz to my mechanic a few times, and there is no problem just a software issue. although in some cases, you should get it checked. it was giving that message in my mums vz acclaim a few months back, n the wheels kept skidding out of control. best to get it checked so your car doesnt fail on you when driving

if it flashes when cranking, and goes away when running, thats a tell tale that your battery is getting weak,

the fault code that appears then is the low voltage warning at the module

I get the same fault when I switch on my
HID high beams. Disappears after a few seconds.
    I'm not afraid.

so recommendations, take it to holden?..if so how much they cost to get logged codes and check it out roughly?..otherwise let it ride?..it needs a service, and the mechanic is a family friend and qualified holden mechanic so maybe i should let him know and see if he can do anything?

has the car got the original battery?

if it goes away as soon as the motor is running, ill bet 100buck on the battery is getting weak, and really, if it is the original, its doing pretty damm got a 4 years old

mate itll be the battery most likely, i had the same problem for a while, was giving me that fault inconsistently (but always on start up) for maybe a couple months, then my battery went, new battery, never happened again so i would say its the most likely cause, ive heard this issue related to batteries on numerous occasions

ok well the superforce is the supercheap auto brand,

its quite possible the battery has a dead cell and is discharging itself,

does it consistantly flash on start? or only mornings? etc, try sticking it on the battery charger for an hour on max, then start it, there should be enough surface charge to give it a boost and if the message disappears after that, the battery is on the way out

no battery flash on start up, just the normal reds before you hit the key, this morning at 4:30 to go to work got no abs message, also on the way home no message. Will let it ride for a bit and see if the battery dies then ill go get a good quality one if not a drycell..went to the drive-in movies about a month ago and sat through 4 and half hours of movies so thats probably whats killed it. Atleast its nothing major..as the abs still does work tested it today and i will know it was the battery if it goes dead soon.

    cheers for the help

I'd bet on it being the battery as well.
I had the same prob, bought a new battery and haven't had the ABS fault flash again.
Get a new battery mate, it'll save ya getting caught out when it dies eventually
