I believe they need the wiring from the fuseblock back, so they require a switch and the wiring from lights to the fuseblock

    I THINK*

alternatively aftermarket foggies arent hard to wire up and look ok

this is an add on to the OP's question..not trying to overtake the thread just thought i shouldn't start a new thread about the same thing. With the standard holden foglights when installing them into an exec with a ss/sv6 front bar can the foggies be hooked up so they turn on when the headlights turn on without changing the switch..which brings me to my next question, if you couldn't hook the foggies up to come on with the headlights could u buy a head and foglight switch which is in the ss/sv6's and hook it up to work the same?

Yes you can wire to turn on with headlights.
However it is not recommened as it may be illegal
and not to mention annoying to other motorists.
It would be wiser to purchase a ready-made wiring kit for
electrical accessories at your auto accessory shop.
Or as mentioned you can use a combination of the factory
switch and the after market loom.
All that will remain is to hook up the fog indicator switch on
your instrument cluster(terminal4 neg). Provided you have one!

im in queensland so dont think the we have the foglight laws here, also see lots of sv6 and subarus and stuff getting around with them on, if i didnt hook the foggies up to the headlight switch how would they turn on?..and also do you have any idea if the execs have a foglight light in it's instrument cluster?

No fog light icon in the exec dash. Well at least
    mine did not have one.

As mentioned you can purchase a kit (loom, relay.switch,
etc.) from Supercheap and the like.

You can purchase after market lights for your bar.
However, expect some sort of fabrication or mod to make
the lights fit. Even then they may look like crap.

Best to stick to the big dollar OEM units if you dont have a lot
of time on your hands or skill.
Just make sure your new lights are 'fogs' and not driving
lights or spots. Yes, there is a difference.

I recently rigged up my spot lights for my exec after I fitted a SV6 bodykit to it. Honestly easiest way and most legal way is to goto Supercheap Auto and grab a relay kit for like $25........ hook it off the battery, run your switch inside the car......... and connect it upto the park light so u can turn them on and off when you want. It's nice and easy, a bit time consuming.... you can mount the relay itself to the side of the radiator (near the battery, there's a spare screw hole)...... and zip tie the fuse there somewhere.

Easy as pie and that way your guarentee'd it's legal, your not going to overjuice anything else. I contemplated rigging it off some lights wires......... but no just get a relay it (you'll need to buy extra wire as they skimp out).

as above do it properly with a relay, id also recommmend getting the fog light combo switch. ie the on that pulls out for fog light operation. makes a nice complete standard installation, you only need to run 1 wire to the switch.

Why do you need to run fog lights in conjunction with your headlights? If your headlights are inadequate I suggest you have them checked (alignment etc) by a specialist or alternatively you may have a defficiency in your vision (unable to see correctly at night) which should be checked by your GP with referral to Specialist if necessary.

i was planning on buying the proper SS/SV6 switch and taking the lights and switch to an auto sparky and telling him to go play with it so it was wired up just like a car that came stock with them..i think foggies look good with headlights on aswell its not that i have a problem with seeing.

Hey guys, I own a 04 VZ s-pack ute and was just wondering if i have to buy anything apart from the foggies? eg. wiring looms switches? I know the front bar has the mounting brackets already in but i just dont know about the electrical side of things?

Not hijacking thread just adding to it.

    Cheers

Have you checked to see if the wiring is already in place behind the bumper? My son's 04 VZ Acclaim had the wiring in there and Acclaims didn't have fog lights. It could be that the wiring was already included as part of the basic Exec wiring so your S pack might also have it.

the "running fog lights with headlights" ......... if anyone was refering to my relay post is to essentially provide power to the relay in terms of being able to switch it on and have it come on etc.....

the power still runs directly from the battery, just hook the 12v line upto your parker light so no matter if ur on high beam or low beam you'll be able to use the fog lights............

Correct me if i am wrong but foggies are meant for FOG ........... so if ur crusing down the highway at night etc and cars are around but it's foggy u cant exactly hit the highbeam so ur fog lights come on too..........

this way u can run standard beam and just get the spotties on to help a bit.....

    if that all makes sense

They are for the additional horn on
    higher spec models.
    Factory connectors should be
    White\blue & purple/white (left).
    White\black & purple/white (right).
Also check your fog relay socket to see if
    the wiring is installed.

Hmm well in that case i didnt see any other free wires or connection only the main loom for the headlights. So looks like i might have to run wires and what not. Will i need to buy an indicator stalk with the foglights option on them or what?

And where is the fog relay socket?
