Quick Question,
Whats the difference between Standard Bendix pads and Bendix Ultimate?
I can only seem to find the Ultimate ones for the front wheels.
Ebay the front Ultimates seem to go for $140~ is that a good price or is their a site when I could buy them online.
Thanks
I've never used Bendix, but have just bought QFM A1RM Pads from GSL, these are meant to be better than the ultimate's and less rotor/pad wear and less dust.

thanks, but if i did want to stick with bendix atm would i need to get new brake shoes as well? and obviously i would need to get better brake fluid as well.
Mind you i'm going to be replacing the standard VZ brake pads.
i got Bendix Ultimate front and back, great pad..i paid $250 for mine..
I got Bendix Ultimate on front recently, don't know the difference between standard and ultimate, but I got no complaints with Ultimate yet, although I have heard they wear quicker than some performance pads??

theres people that know more about it but in a nutshell the ultimates have more pad material that covers the entire backing plate opposed to 90% of it with the standards.
I also believe they use different material.
Also ultimates are dusty as hell, its easy to wash off even after a few weeks, but say goodbye to shiny wheels
You you are looking at ultimate pads you
should also consider replacing the terrible
OEM rotors with something better.
Also replace the radius rod bushes with
urethane units. This will give you better
brake feel.
Then you will need better hoses, then......
I'm not afraid.
That sounds a bit costly
I think i'll replace the rotors as well then, do you have a specific brand i should replace the rotors with? and possibly a linky to the urethane units? or should i just all ebay this stuff lol.
The reason why i want the pads changed is because i've been getting bad braking with resulted in the car not stopping @ 30ks and me having an accident a few weeks back.
So i'll get everything checked out but also want an upgrade that isn't going to cost me and arm and a leg.

Go for DBA rotors. I have 4000 series installed with Ultimate pads
with no problems or excessive dust. They pull up really well!
I'm not afraid.
thank you for the linky, i'll end up grabbing that.
But I still have the standard rims on the executive so will the DBA Rotors work with the standard 15" rims (non alloy).
You can buy all DBA series rotors with the factory
296x28mm measurements or go larger if you want.
If you fit larger diameter rotors you will need an
adaptor plate for the calipers and of course your
wheels may need to be larger.
Download DBA catalogue or decide for yourself. http://www.dba.com.au/product_search_dev.php
Also I must warn you.
If you replace your hydraulic radius rod bushes
with urethane you may experience some vibration
during heavy braking.

I'm not afraid.
for the exec with standard rotors you could throw on something like a mid range bendix. you should not have any probs with those. Bendix ultra premium have been good on my VS, even at trackday. on the shelf at supercheap.
What was the problem you had before ? did you get them reaaly hot or just bad pads
I've got Ultimates on the front of my SV6 and they are dusty as hell! one week will see my wheels black again.
I have bendix CTs on mine at the moment and they are nothing to write home about. Had Bendix Ultra Premiums before that and they were miles better.
Everyone says (as you can see) that Ultimates are way too dusty so I never used them.
Next time I will probably give QFMs a go

I think it's just terrible pads, previous owner must have put some crap ones on.
Dust isn't a massive concern of mine because on my vx i had some kind of premium pads that worked really well but very dusty, so i'm happy to try it out once.
I do a lot of highway driving and city so occasionally I need good stopping power that why I was thinking of going with the bendix ultimates
I strongly suggest that you have the car and brakes checked out by a 'qualified' mechanic. To suggest that the brakes failed recently and you obviously haven't been to a brake specialist suggests to me that you are indifferent as to your responsibilities to other road users. How long will it be before your (obviously) poorly maintained vehicle causes the death of an innocent party. Think about it !! Playing with cars it not at all like playing with toys.
brake pads that are running metal to metal will still stop the car ok, just noisily,
i suggest you get some qualified to check it out if the brakes arnt working,
other than that, i dont reccomend bendix stuff anymore, its cheap rebadged poo, they have up to half the pad material on them compared to other brands, and cost a lot more,
i run maxistop bizztec, heavy duty organic pad, costs alot less than ultimates, works the same, lasts longer, less money and less dust

Since then I have hardly used the car because it happened just before i went overseas.
Don't have the nerve to take it out on me as I am obviously gathering information to figure this out. For your information, The car was serviced NOT BY ME when i bought it in March but it was taken to K-Mart auto mechanic who i specifically told to check out the car, i've known him for many years now and i do trust him and his team to do the repairs, I dont know enough to be meddling around in my car mechanically so i wouldn't even do it.
as to if k-mart is crap or not, everyone for themselves.
and yes not that it's any of your business but the car is going to be taken to a brake specialist once i get back as i'm worried not just for myself and my family but for others.
So if you have nothing good to give in to this, then just dont post!
I could'nt agree more with your suggestion to consult specialist help.
I myself are unhappy with my Commodore's exhaust sound as a result
I plan on seeing an Audiologist.
I also believe it does not accelerate quickly enough so its off to see my
Phsychologist.
Also the braking could be better so this will require many visit's to a
Physiotherapist.
The body of my vehicle is begining to show it's age so I will have to make
an appointment with an Optometrist.
As for its handling I am unsure on which specialist to visit.
I'm not afraid.
