My rack apparently needs to be replaced at 78000 km - priced at between $660 and $1000 fitted. Lowest price at Pedders.
Seems this is a different rack to standard Commodore.
Does this sound OK? Or can the steering arms be tightened up in some way?
Thanks in advance.
PS have replaced strut bushes and sway bar links are tight.
Check with a Holden Dealer.
what has happened to lead to a rack replacement

Check ALL suspension pivot points (bushes, joints etc) before replacing steering rack.
i had the problem of clunking when turning ended up being just a strut bearing
Oh and Pedders Mandurah (bless them - at last) were the first place to find the source of the ******* annoying steering klonks at full lock - the rack holding bolts needed tightening.
This source of noise has been covered many times before on this and other forums and would have been obvious for any decent workshop to check.
I had asked various workshops to check these, but like so many other things in SW WA had not been taken seriously.![]()
