    Default Exhaust sounds like poo

Hey got this exhaust and put it on my car (its a 6 speed)

and it sounds ok but as soon as i hit 3k rpm i cant even hear it anymore sorta drones and need to be more grunty/tough

Holden Commodore VZ V6 Sedan Pex Sports Exhaust - eBay Mufflers, Exhausts, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 29-Aug-09 09:09:34 AEST)

i've got pacemakers going on soon (already have them) and going to get the exhaust place to install them, just wondering if i can add anything to the system to make it sounds better, ie hotdog or something?

    any suggestions would be great!

would a hotdog make it quiter or more deep?
and the exhaust sorta stops at 3k rpm will the extractors fix that?

It sounds like shit because it is a shit system....IMO....

One muffler on an alloytec is a big no no. You will need a resonator on the rear at the very least, and even that may not fix it. The biggest resonator you can fit will do the best job.

Extractors on an alloytec will probably make it worse as it makes it more raspy, hi flow cats magnify it again. You will get a pretty good gain in the seat of your pants but you will sacrifice sound quality.

Nothing will make it sound like the earlier V6's because of the nature of the engine, but the right system can make it deeper and less drony.

Sorry to tell you, but I think you just wasted $280.

well im getting the extractors put on tomorrow so we will see.

and the term "open up the cats" u have to do that to fit the extractors on right? or do i need to ask for it?

    Thanks for your suggestions

No, you don't have to "open up the cats" to fit extractors.

Opening up the cats is just enlarging the inlet and outlet size. The stock cats on the alloytec are right up near the manifold, so if they get reused they will hang fairly low because of their shape.

Yea I'm going Pacies dual high flow cats to 2.5" exhaust with a cross flow muffler. So I hope it doesn't sound shit. Not that I am too worried about the sound more want the engine to breath propperly. but yea 1850 for the whole lot so far. Thats alot of money to waste though :P

Two more cylinders should do the trick.

mate, i have herd a shitload of ppl who have changed theyre exhausts on a vz. only to make it sound like paris hilton gargling amouth full of semen. The alloytec engines just dont sound nice. i have yet to hear an exhaust on an alloytec that sounds good. they either sound like 4 bangers or like crap.

You will never get the V6 to sound any good owing to the firing order of the cylinders.

ok well i got my pacies installed and 2 high flow cats.....

on idle it sounds like a little beast really deep and lumpy... but as soon as u accelrate its a diffrent story....

so im gonna try flog this really good exhaust and get another one from the exhaust place..... the exhaust place reccomends a duel 2.5 that he also uses for gen3s... he said he has used them on alot of VZ and sound really awesome.

so i guess thats what im gonna do.

    Dual 2.5 sounds a bit overkill for a V6?
