Hi All,
My first post on this forum and just bought my first Commodore.
I have always had smaller cars but now I need a wagon for the kids!
I just bought a 06 VZ Executive Wagon with the 9C1 police pack from the auctions, have been looking for a while for one (a 9C1) in good nick in a colour i wanted (Odessey). Have driven it home and found nothing wrong, except for the fact the Hazard Lights don't work!
Argh, a majour issue until I get it fixed as it won't pass a roadworthy. Does anyone have any ideas?
- The indicators still work fine.
- There is still a clicking noise, but no hazard lights, but its very very quiet. We have a VZ wagon at work, and the cliking is much louder with its hazard lights, just as loud as the indicators.
- Found an after market alarm on the car, it has three wires attached to the BCM. 2 are spliced in and one is connected to the car side and is cut off on the BCM side. Just in case this was the problem I have completly removed it and re connected the cut wire. No help.
I have thought about swapping the hazard light switch, but it seems like a big guess and unlikely cause of the issue seeing as it still clicks (albiet very quietly). Its almost like its not getting enough current to operate correctly.
Can see no other evidence of wiring being tampered with. Looks like any possible lights were connected via plug in modules. It still has the extra wiring loom connected to the battery and to the 9C1 fuse block on the LH shock tower but this is definately not conected to anything.
Hope someone can help! Perhaps the Body Control module is faulty? If so, how much do you think it would cost to repair/replace?
The only other odd thing is that their are some options missing from the trip computer, namely Overspeed, this instead has "Trapped Speed" and no option to have the radio station on the trip display. I guess this is a 9C1 trip option.
Any help appriciated.
Adam.
Hi mate. If i remeber correctly there is a 15amp fuse for the hazard lights/eletreic ariel located in the fuse box compartment under the steering wheel. To acsess it you need to pull down fairly hard (dont worrie you wont break it) in the gap between the steering coloum and the trim pannel.
Hope this helps,
Greg

G'day all, my first post here.
No reply to this last mention by Adam.
Strangely, I too, am getting this "Trapped Speed -- --" message in place of other displayable Mode options on my ex-CFA fleet VZ Commodore wagon wheels. Speculation that modification to the wiring for sirens/lights (ah, what a damn shame they had to remove them, LOL!) has reset something in the electronics. Definitely does not have Police Pack option. Phoned Holden in Melbourne and they are raising a Case (or somesuch) about this, with a view to correcting / reversing it (if that's possible). In the meantime, just wondering how prevalent this 'error' is among other owners who have ex-CFA or ex-Police issue cars which have had modifications to wiring/instrumentation/etc.?
Nothing wrong with my hazard lights, but being profoundly deaf I would know if they click or bang, LOL! Anyway, the observations of others here would be interesting reading.
Cheers,

EDIT: 4.30pm today: Somewhere on the web I found a reference to POLICE MODE in the instrumentation. If the instrument LCD display shows "Trapped Speed --" instead of the Mode options in the Handbook, then Police Mode is engaged. This is corrected (e.g. mode is exited/turned off) with the TECH2 instrument at the Dealer. So it was done! But only after: 2 phone calls to bewildered Holden office in Melbourne, 8 emails to explain it, 11 phone calls to recalcitrant Holden Dealer ("we need 48 hours to book in and the car will be returned within 4 hours ...), 3 trips by car to them to explain what is wrong and a return trip after the TECH2 instrument caused the seat belt warning light to remain activated even when driver/passenger buckled in! Another 15 minute delay while Workshop Foreman scratched around the settings to reset that too. Finally, it all displays as it bloody well should. Sorted.
Bookmark it for others who run into this cryptic display. It could save you a damn lot of trouble!
