i may sound dumb but i gotta ask, when you talk bout diffs being 4.11 or 3.45.Which onw will produce more power?is it the higher the number or what?thanks guys
the higher the ratio, the shorter the gears. 4.11's will rev out quicker and increase acceleration, but you lose top speed.
ok whats in a stock vz executive?
If it carried over from VX etc, it will be 3.07 to one. That is a ratio designed for economy, by keeping engine revs low at cruising speeds. It will not assist acceleration - if you want faster acceleration, but are prepared to put up with more revs, engine noise and lower fuel economy, you need to swap it for a 3.46 or 3.73 ratio.
Incidentally, diff ratios do not produce more power. They simply permit the engine to give faster take-offs and rev through the ratios more quickly, because you have effectively lowered the gearing through all gears. Top speed in each gear will be lower, but the car will get there quicker.
ok cheers thanks heaps
