    Default ABS on VZ Executive

    Hello.
I am new here, and I am from Saudi Arabia.
I have 2006 VZ commodore Executive. I bought it 4 days ago.
When I pressed the brake pedal so hard, the car skidded on the road, like there is no ABS fitted.

Does all VZ Execs have ABS?
And how can I know if there is one or not?

Note: I tested the instrument cluster by pressing set and mode together, and there are an ABS and SRS lights.

    Thank you

abs doesnt work all the time, its only suppose to stop u from skidding sometimes, if u slamm the breaks on u gonna skid abs or no abs

not sure if execs dont have it but yeah i think they do i know they dont have traction controll button

Have a look under the bonnet - there should be the ABS system next to the battery - it will have a series of pipes in/out to the master cylinder and wheels.
The left hand side looking back from the radiator toeard the passenger compartment.
If there is not an ABS controller - no ABS.

wrong abs will stop skids al the time generally over 20km/h though, if it worked 'somtimes' how would it know when to work and when not to,

abs only brings back braking enough to allow a tiny amount of slip, as that is maximum braking effectiveness, thats why you se the wheels and car jitter a bit under hard braking with abs

Then you got ripped off with some dud pads in your car.

The brakes on my VZ executive are very very good - but I do still have the original pads in it which are due to be chaged very soon.

if you have heavy duty pads, it wont brake good untill you get them really hot,

general everyday pad will do fine, but everyone always goes for the heavy duty performance pad, then wonders why they dont brake to good, in saying that, i dont know if thats your problem or what pads you have,

when was the last time the brakes were bled? there could be some air in the lines

Nope not just yours, my vx brakes were way better then these vz ones.
I'll be upgrading the pads shortly, hopefully that'll improve it a bit.
The stopping distance is not all that great.

By the way, My car is brand new, there still are a few new VZs here at the dealer. So the pads are the factory 1s.

Thank you very much for helping me, but I am still confused

I took a shot of my engine bay behind the battery, and this is the thing I got.

lol its strange cause the base utes and crewmans without abs dosnt have those, maybe its a design rule thing over there with brake circuits etc

Wait a sec i thought all VZ Sedans has abs as a standard. This is odd! Could someone have removed the ABS Module?

well it is over in Saudi, maybe they do more than just remove the holden badges on the way over.

Spose they removed the ABS because they know how you Saudi guys like to drive.

You don't need ABS. You need traction control!

By the way, I can get used parts cheap in here. Can I fit an ABS to my car?
What parts should I buy? ABS Module, Sensors, etc?

    Thanks

As for fitting, I would doubt very much that you could do it without incurring considerable expense. You need more than just a module. You would have to change every brake assembly to one with sensors, change/replace the computer etc. Probably cheaper to buy an upgraded model. Export models of Commodores were not always configured the same as those produced for sale in Australia.
